Anyone catch the first episode? Not sure if a second has dropped, but it seems like it might have promise. Cast is pretty solid, although giving me Mare of Easttown vibes, but that is probably mostly due to the setting.

I need to check if the first episode came out yesterday, or there was a second one that came out (not sure when it started) but it has the makings of being a decent show.

Based (I guess a bit?) on the book of the same name, written by the same author as “The Son.”

Book was pretty good, quite dark.

Was it a book of short stories? I remember reading it a while ago but not all the details.

ahh was unaware that it was based on a book, it seems like it is definitely going to be dark.

Award winners Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney star in an unflinching new Showtime Original Series. In an economically devastated Pennsylvania steel town, a complicated and compromised chief of police (Daniels) is forced to decide how far he’s willing to go when the son of the woman he loves (Tierney) is accused of murder. A harrowing journey into the lives of a small town with big secrets, where people are driven by loyalty, love and desperation – and bad choices come far too easy.

Have to hope Jeff Daniels' sheriff character isn't as weak,or stupid, as Bryan Cranston's judge character in Your Honor. That was Showtime too.

Think I'm going to wait for E2 to drop on the 19th, so I can watch two episodes.

True, but City on a Hill is excellent and Kevin Bacon is killing that role. But I agree I wish there were more current episodes to base my opinion on.
