Ok, I just watched it. I know it’s old, but I am very much anti-Christian Bale. I have not liked him in anything I’ve seen.
I still am not a fan, but I thought this was Bale’s best performance. Obviously his niche is to play homicidal, emotionless cretins. He was very believable. Maybe he could play Donny Trump when they make his movie?
The film itself had some moments, but I found it borrowing elements from other films. Some far superior (Gilliam’s Brazil), and some worse (the unbelievably bad Natural Born Killers).
Ultimately, I didn’t like it. Zero rewatchability and, even worse, nothing memorable.

I couldn’t disagree more. I loved it and have watched it many times.

I'd stay and discuss this but I have to return some videotapes.

I don't care for him either. He owned the Patrick Bateman role in this film, though. He's better when he's playing an unlikable character because I don't like him as a person. See also The Prestige.

I agree; I thought he did an excellent job in this movie. And I truly don’t like the guy in anything I’ve seen. Haven’t seen Prestige, but maybe I should check it out.
Bale’s performance was not enough for me to say this weird and silly movie was good though.

Roger that. Patrick’s taste in music was as soulless as he was, but I suppose that was the point.

Not a provocative scene.
Not a very good movie. Maybe I should have seen it 10 years ago? Still think it was mostly begged and borrowed from other movies.

Did you see Brazil? Seems obvious to me.

The attitude of the ‘elite’ in the world; the disdain for those less fortunate to be left out of the in crowd.

I'm going to agree with you to a degree - it has a similar vibe of the absurd as Brazil had. Similar shots and camera work at times.

I don't think it's all that close and parallel, but I do see the similarities.
