Didnt know u were such an Idol fan, Gris. I work with HCJs brother.... We heard he did a good job the 1st night, so we watched last night. I have seen AI periodically over the years, but I have not been loyal.

He did a really good job. I know I am biased, but am more likely to watch it with him as a judge than before.

The guru guy scene was funny.

this is one of those people they put through just for good tv.

ididn't think eithe twin was good enough... but they were both better than this hippy "healer".

all in all this is a pretty weak bunch. I don't know if they have found the winner yet.

Hi Boss. Last several seasons have had pretty poor judges panels that were a distraction from the singing. Last year they had both a horrid panel and not that many really great singers. Had some great ones, but not that many overall. I was ready to give it up. Decided to hang in there and see what the new panel would be like. HCJ, so far, has renewed my interest. He's entertaining and he's more discriminating than the other two judges, though they're not annoying. I love singing shows. Not all of them, but I do watch several.

At this point, they always let some weak singers through. Usually I watch the auditions loosely. HCJ has me paying more attention.

I don't think we've seen all the better singers. I don't think they're showing many of the wow kids. I wouldn't have kept guru guy, but remember these folks have some months to work on themselves if they make it to Hollywood week. I suspect many of them get some voice coaching done. I think some have even mentioned that. Now, that we have a decent panel, I hope they get a great crop of singers.

Last season was very hard to take

My wife and I would not support those idiots last season, and im glad we didnt. Hell we even started watching the Voice instead, so im glad we didnt.

So far this season is solid, I do feel like maybe too many ok people are getting passes, but it may just seem that way because they took away the emphasis on the shitty auditions this season. I really like Harry Connick as a judge. JLo is ok, but I knew what to expect of her. Urban is alright, but if I had to compare him to Steven Tyler, then hes much better.

I do notice the more emphasis on the guitar singers along with more of the feel good stories vs the shite bags who are just there to make a fool of themselves. I personally like that. All in all, 2 episodes in and I feel like they have some legit singers and I like the new vibe from the show.

We could see a little drama when it comes down to the tough decisions, but it will be drama over whether a singer makes it or not rather than a personal feud. At this stage, there's no down side to letting people go to Hollywood. They will pare them down soon enough. A lot of them folks won't go farther, but some will come back sounding a lot better than they did during the audition. How far those folks go remains to be seen.

I'm so glad we aren't wasting a lot of time on clowns, though. I just don't know who thought that was a good idea to begin with.

They are letting people through who aren't that good. I guess they need to make sure that they have people to send home during Hollywood week.
