There is zero chance the HoM will release a blockbuster movie - especially in their biggest franchise - in home for $20 a rental.

The best case scenario you’ll ever see is the movies get a 2-4 week exclusive window in theaters and then it’s $50-75 at home at bare minimum.

VOD right out of the gate for $20 is a loser for both studios and distributors. Makes no fiscal sense for them. Hell the price point I outlined above is probably too low.

AMC has no room to negotiate. The studios are now seeing they can dictate what happens in the theaters after what Disney did to all them with Star Wars.

AMC has no leg to stand on and this will continue their downward slide.

AMC has plenty of leverage, especially when they band together with the other major theaters, like Regal.

All depends on target market. Movies target for children may do better for VOD. A lot easier to watch at home with the interruptions of life with kids than to go spend $50 and miss half the damn thing.

Huge blockbusters probably won’t be impacted as much. If we can shorten the time from theater to tv I’ll be happy though.
