If new David finds old David-head...isn't that where they are? I mean, David-head said he could find it at end of Prometheus, didn't he?

I guess they could have crash-landed on another world with a derelict Engineer ship, but that would be really shitty.

Aliens is literally my favorite movie. I honestly don't think the trailer is that great. It's got a couple amazing looking shots, but it's more like two gory teasers, and a too brief look at a reboot of Aliens. Does the sex scene, despite the wow visuals, just strike anyone else as too on-the-nose-horror cliche?

Probably. It's what happened to Lambert in the original Alien.

Off-topic a bit, but...

I was watching the beginning of it last night on a, er, streaming site...and it must've been the director's cut or something, because there were some scenes that I've never seen...and I've watched that movie a thousand times:

-There was a scene where Burke shows Ripley a digital photo of her daughter (as an old woman) who died while Ripley was floating for 57 years...Ripley says she promised to be home for her birthday and cries...?

-After the hearing starts, but before it is closed, there is a scene on LV-426 of the colony "Hadley's ______" reads a sign...Newt and her family are in a huge off-road thing and find the derelict Engineer ship, report it, and the parents go in while Newt and her brother wait in the car. Mom returns and starts screaming into the radio, Newt sees her dad on the ground with face-hugger attached and screams...??

-Hudson goes on a really long tirade to Ripley about all the weapons the marines have to protect her with while they are strapping into the drop ship. He must say "check it out" like 15 times...???

I stopped watching there...anyone remember ANY of these scenes in the original?

Yeah, all those are in the director's cut. There's also a scene before the final showdown (aliens falling on them from the ceiling), that shows them set up big machine guns in a couple of corridors to take out the aliens before they get to them. They use thousands of rounds in just a few minutes, take out a bunch of aliens, and then they're out of ammo. It's why the aliens came at them through the ventilation/ceiling.

Yup, sharp sticks...he fricking said that

And in this scene:
quote:

Newt sees her dad on the ground with face-hugger attached and screams...??

-cut to interior of main complex building where the super is saying he doesn't know why the company had him send a family to a grid point, cuz when he asks, the answer is always "Don't ask" then camera pans to where kids are playing (he shoos them away off-cam) and pauses on a big Weyland-Yutani "Building Better Worlds" sign.

I remember reading that the part with the hallway and auto-turrets was added back in for the TV release since they had to cut so much out of the rest of the movie. I know for sure it wasn't in the "original" release. The rest of the scene's your talking about I do remember, but I'm not sure if they were in the original or not. I've seen it so many times over the years it's hard to say

This here is why Hudson is my favorite character in Aliens! Express elevator to Hell..Going Down.

Between Him, Vasquez, Bad-arse Drake, Sgt.Apone, Bishop, and the rest...They were the company of Ultimate Bad-Asses......Loved it.

Took a monster film like Alien, and then elevated it into a "team-up" type movie.
The rest of the alien movies could never hold for me because of this...

As for this trailer........meh...
At least Lindelof isn't involved to muddle it up.

That was a good scene, about the only good one in the director's cut IMO. At least I understood why they cut the rest from the theatrical release. "Maybe we got 'em demoralised."

BTW, they used contemporary computers in the film as the controllers, the Grid Compass II. Here's a page on that:
