Odds are that neither or Forrest jr contracted the virus.. the movie shows one encounter which means low risk for Forrest and chances of a baby are unknown during that time but much higher depending on whether they breastfeed

Yeah he'd have to be pounding her in the arse for months or shooting heroin.
Traditional sex - male to female vaginal, almost impossible to contract has been proven...otherwise the epidemic would have MASSIVELY spread to the heterosexual population in the late 80's.
It didn't.
It was drug users and blood recipients. The rest remained and still to this day remain - gay men who contract it. Promiscuity on a crazy level, rampant antibiotics used daily for STDs, party drugs...equals low immune system engineered.
They said 90% of men who had AIDS in the intial discovery were basically living on antibiotics...took it like vitamins; daily - as preventive before going to the bathhouses. Antibiotics kill your immune system when you rely on it. Your body loses its defenses. It also kills all the good bacteria in your body. It makes you a cancer patient if you live on it.
Drugs are the worst - they destroy your immune system. People have died of AIDS like diseases and symptoms but they don't call it AIDS.
Magic had a baby, wife didn't get it, baby didn't get it.
Forest just had sex, I'm sure he's fine.

The problem with this theory is that she never showed any of the signs of AIDS. AIDS really does a number on your body, and back then, without any viable treatment, it would have been even worse. No lesions, not dramatic weight loss, nothing. Nor is there any indication she's suffering from peripheral symptoms like infected lymph glands or the various flu-like symptoms that arise. And it's unlikely these happened off-camera because we know the last time we saw her was extremely close to her death simply because Forrest Jr. has barely aged, if at all. Hep is the most likely. It can cause changes in appearance, but doesn't have to.

There is a 25% chance that Forrest Jr. was infected during childbirth/breastfeeding if she wasn't treated. In the unlikely event that they were treated, that drops to 2%. So, there's a good chance that he was perfectly healthy.
