Yeah, no.
There is a lot more fun to be mined out of heavy metal than folk rock.
The best parts I remember of A Mighty Wind surrounded Mitch’s solo work and the ending performance of Eat At Joe’s.
Good but not on the level of Tap, with a bare minimum being that Wind came about 20 years later which means some of the jokes and situations used were swiped from Tap.

A Mighty Wind for me. Hysterical. Talented cast. Good story. “It’s blowin’ peace and freedom,
It’s blowin’ you and me.”
It’s blowin’ you and me.”

I've always thought A Mighty Wind told a more complete story but Spinal Tap is funnier.

Tap is set up as the clusterfrick tour for Smell The Glove, which is why it is so disjointed.
Them taking shots at Scorsese and how The Last Waltz was done probably contributed to that.
A Mighty Wind has a more traditional narrative in that it is all about a tribute show to one of the producers who was influential in the careers of all of these acts, though Mitch and Mickey are the biggest focus.
They get to spend some time on each of the acts but it still has the overarching story of getting the show off despite the issues involved, including Mitch being off the deep end.

I voted for Tap because it was so new and fresh at the time. But Wind is great, as is Guffman and Best in Show.
