The Breakfast Club

Don’t You Forget About Me

On March 24, 1984, a princess, an athlete, a brain, a criminal and a basket case all met for Saturday detention.

They were strangers, but by the end of the day they all realized that EACH ONE of us is a princess, an athlete, a brain, a criminal and a basket case. Does that answer your question Mr. Vernon? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club....

Another Classic from the best 80’s film director and producer John Hughes.

I am the same age as those kids.

As I’ve gotten older, my attitude toward them is this: “Boo fricking hoo. Your parents are mean. Get over it.”*

*Bender is the only one who really has a legitimate gripe because his dad beats him and his mother.

Trivia question:

How many of the main cast of The Breakfast Club made guest appearances in Psych?

Pretty Cool. I need to watch Psych
Taken from Reddit.
quote:

Psych and The Breakfast Club As most of you know, all but 2 of the main cast from TBC cameo'd on Psych; the Principal and Emilio Estevez due to lack of living and other occupations, respectively. What I find interesting is how each were in the shoes of one of the other characters. Ally Sheedy (the basket case) played a criminal (Yang). Judd Nelson (the criminal) played a brain (the doctor from the virus episode). Anthony Michael Hall (the brain) played a jock-type (Trout, the interim chief of police, season 8). Molly Ringwald (the princess) played a basket case; well she could be considered a criminal but she was "working" in the mental hospital, and if I'm not mistaken she was actually a patient. I assume if Emilio (the jock) was in an episode he would have played a "princess," possibly the diplomat from 6X01 Shawn Rescues Darth Vader.

The only thing incorrect is that Molly Ringwald played a nurse in that episode when Shawn and Gus go undercover.

I was born after this movie was released so I had ever seen it on TV. For years I believed the “Eat my shorts” line was a tv edit for “Eat my shite,” until I watched it on a streaming service and realized it wasn’t.

Grunge just made burnouts mainstream.

That's how burnouts dressed in the 80s. If Bender had the money, he'd be driving an IROC-Z instead of walking to and from school. The Midwest redneck...demented and sad, but social.

He would have had to wait a year.

Bender would have driven a beat up Hemi ‘Cuda or a Galaxie 500.

Saw some theory not long ago that it was supposedly just the Basket Case girl in detention and everyone else was made up in her head.

Hated Bender. It was the typical, "You can be a frickup and shitty to everyone, but if you are misunderstood and handsome, you get the girl."

In 1984, Chevrolet introduced the Camaro IROC-Z for the 1985 model year.

There was a time when they used to edit the line from "eat my shorts" to "eat my socks." I remember seeing it on TBS once and doing a double take.

Jock
Prep
Nerd
Rebel
Goth

All pretty much the same when I was in high school as they were in this movie just different styles and music. Well expect for the goths but they never change

I like the movie a lot but I'm pretty iffy about Emilio as the jock and Molly as the pretty popular one. I have to suspend some disbelief. The talent at that school must've been shitty, in multiple ways
