Chadwicks a lock.
Also figured Delroy Lindo would’ve gotten one as a supporting actor for 5 bloods . He was great in it

Ted Lasso has got the new-hotness sizzle right now, but is it enough to edge out the Emmy momentum of Schitt’s Creek?

Agreed.
Was literally just thinking about how I haven't even heard of any of the movies in any the film categories except for Borat and Hamilton.

Nomadland seems to be the odds favorite. It's very well done for sure and beautifully shot.
Judas and the Black Messiah is the better of the two pictures set in 1968 Chicago. Will also get a best pic nom. Just premiered at Sundance Monday, so the foreign press likely hasn't seen it. But it's a force.
Minari will easily win best Foreign film and arguably is a top 5 overall. Very nice story with great acting.
Anyone but Fincher directing Mank and it doesn't get the run.
Delroy was robbed. But will get the Oscar nom.
And sorry "A Promising Young Woman" is not a worthy best film candidate.

They are giving Borat his due for his attempt to make Giuliani look like a dirty old man. I heard the movie was a steaming pile of shite.

Not that these awards mean anything to me, but I really hope he wins. I don’t care if it’s a lifetime achievement kind of deal but the man was a great actor and by all accounts a better person.

Hope these win as well.

First time I can recall not having seen a single best picture nominee.

Not only have I never seen any of these movies I have never even heard of them.

Isn’t that the case for awards season almost every year? Most people don’t see these movies until Oscar buzz starts. For one thing, they are released towards the end of the year anyway, for another, they don’t have the advertising budgets of the blockbusters.

I haven't seen any of the movies, but a ton of the television shows. The Queen's Gambit is going to clean up.

Is it a surprise in a year with no movie theaters that the movies wouldnt be as widely known?
Posted on 2/3/21 at 5:56 pm to RollTide1987
I haven't seen a single "motion picture" on this list.
Am I so out of touch? No, no it must be the kids.

Hamilton is literally the only name I recognize on that huge list

“What We do in the Shadows” was a big snub.

This is a movie board.
Would it be so crazy if more people actually, like, knew more about and then talked about, uhm... movies?

I find it to be bullshite that Hamilton is nominated when it was simply a recording of the stage show
I think it’s actually 3 separate shows with one not in front of a live audience. Hence some of the camera angles that wouldn’t be possible without interfering with the audience view. So I don’t see how it’s that different from a normal film.
