nice info guys!! funny thing is these are probably the only ones, not on the list ,i haven't seen that have been mentioned:

The Hurt Locker
On the Waterfront
Maltese Falcon
Seven Samurai

looks like i need to get busy. would it be fare to say Casablanca should be first or near first on the list? i've always heard it was one of the best ever.

If your plan is to start there, then I think you have a good plan.

Pan's Labyrinth

You never steer me wrong, and I try to return the favor. You're gonna want to watch this pretty soon. It was top 5 of my 00's list and probably top 5 of the list of movies in the OP. It only gets better with time too.

saw clockwork orange about 2 years ago and i'm still scared to form an opinion on this movie in fear it will come to get me.

if you've never done psychedelic drugs; the weirdness, confusion, sporadic, and fun feelings are very close to watching this movie.

These I've never seen or just don't remember.

cross off Memento, nice!! fun movie. it be hard to do it on netflix, but if i got the dvd it'd be fun to watch it backwards, scene to scene. actually i think someone said it has that option on the dvd.

side note:
