First half of season 1 was great. Before they were huge. Slowly downhill after that and my wife and I stopped.

Main problem? Early on the songs were chosen to reflect the emotions and turmoils of the characters. After it became big they started creating storylines to set up songs or artist specific episodes. It became a clusterf*%# with no heart, comedy, or good story.

I have watched it on and off. I won't pretend I know everything about it, but everyone is right. What kept me from watching it all is all of the gay stuff. It doesn't bother me usually, and the Kurt and Blaine story was cool. I actually like the Kurt character. He is likeable.

Minor Spoilers below, but we probably don't have to worry about that since its just us gays watching it.

I didn't even care that they somehow got Santana and Brittney together. I blinked, but it didn't phase me much. However, when Kurt had the secret admirer and it turned out to be the football player that wanted to "kill" him, I couldn't take it anymore.
