He can jump high so therefor he’s in the best shape he could possibly be in

If he wants longevity in the NBA, he needs to be in that 260ish range. With his size currently and then force he generates, he’s a ticking time bomb. Maybe not right away, but when he’s putting on serious muscle in his early 20s, he will need to change his body some.

Why do you think losing muscle is good for him? He obviously can't lose that much body fat without it becoming unhealthy.

Good job I read that article too.

Lmfao you have no idea what you're talking about. Do explain why does 25 lbs make all the difference in the world to his longevity? It doesn't you're literaly just repeating things you've heard on tv.

Notice I said “change his body” same way Lebron did going from MIA to CLE. He slimmed down to prepare for this back half of his career. Also, Zion is 19. You think he’s jacked now? Just wait until he hits an NBA Weight room. All the more reason he’ll have to reshape his body and be in touch with the team nutrition doctors. I don’t think you understand what’s going on here.

I think you need to relax a little.

Zion jumps high and cuts hard, and any extra weight will take a toll. Plenty of basketball players cut fat and muscle to reduce wear and tear over time. It's more important for bigger guys like Zion.

Look, he may never have a serious injury, but it shouldn't be controversial that he isn't ripped and that some of this extra weight isn't great for him.

I don't think you have very main brain cells if you're trying to insinuate that Zion is going to add "serious muscle" and somehow lose weight when gets to the NBA. That's not how that works.

Holy frick you cannot be serious.

If he's heavier than what he was when he was playing at Duke sure. What I'm saying is to insinuate that he needs to trim down to 265 because of assumed injury proness or he's out of shape is beyond ridiculous.

I don't think that what he's saying. He's saying people frequently gain muscle in their 20's and if Zion does that with his current body composition, it could easily be bad news.

He's then saying Zion should try to drop to 265 and maintain that with the best possible body composition because this is a weight that will maximize his ability and minimize wear and tear and the chance of serious injury.

Compare to LeBron, another bigger guy:

I'm not saying Zion is fat compared to the general population, but you can easily see the extra weight he carries vs LeBron.

Everyone knows that could become a problem, whether they admit it or not. I hope he can keep his weight down, but look what happened to Shaq.

As i said earlier. Could he lose 20 lbs? Sure. But he doesn't NEED to. He's not even fat by NBA standrds again what % body fat is that 15% at the most. Maybe 15%. Lebron looks about at 12% or so. So what? If Zion were to lose 20 lbs of pure body fat he would look way more shreaded than lebron does in that photo. The difference between them in body fat% already seems extremly minimal. He's clearly in phenomenal shape and again saying that he "needs" to drop 20-25 lbs is just incorrect.

If that's what he was saying I would agree. Zion doesn't need to get stronger. Easily stronger 99% of the NBA already. Not sure it really makes him that much more injury prone but I could see how his athleticism might start getting hampered if he puts on more muscle. I don't buy the argument that he will be an even better athlete or less injury prone if he was at 265. 285 seems to be the proper weight for him.

He doesn't NEED to do anything, but in terms of what's most beneficial for his career, playing lighter is the best road.

No disrespect, but I doubt you've tried to cut fat if you think you can lose pure fat or if you think Zion is particularly close to LeBron in those pics.

If Zion's 285 there, he'd be about as cut as LeBron at 265 or so. You lose muscle with fat and he has at least 15 pounds of fat on LeBron. You can't see any of his lower abs or oblique separation.

And that's really the point. Ideally, he would take care of his body like LeBron (who has always been good at that) and carry a weight that will maximize his career potential like LeBron has.

Didn't say that. I was saying hypothetically if he were to lose 20 lbs of pure fat.

Yes I do think they are rather comparable in body fat.

I doubt he’ll be doing a whole lot of weight training. I’m guessing they’re gonna be battling to keep the mass off.
