With the 29th pick, of the 2018 NFL draft, The Jacksonville Jaguars select.. Lamar Jackson, Quarterback, Louisville.
The City of Jacksonville cannot be spelled without Jackson. With Chad Henne gone, and Blake Bortles extending his contract through 2020, the Jags will now get a viable back up for Bortles, and Lamar Jackson will have a few years to grow and mature as a quarterback in the NFL, without being spouted right into the fire. Given Bortles ability to run occasionally, and given run plays designed specifically for the QB, the coaching staff in Jacksonville should have no problem getting the former Hiesman Trophy winner to fit in the system.
quote:
STRENGTHS Elite playmaker with rare ability to hit home runs with his arm or legs. Has experience under center. Arm is lively and can spin it. Delivery devoid of wasted motion. Ball comes out with flick of the wrist reminiscent of Michael Vick. Can drive it with velocity. Pocket poise and pre-snap plan has improved each year. Has improved ability to hold safeties and linebackers with his eyes. Feathery deep ball touch off play fakes. Requirement of full-time spy lightens coverage numbers. Willing to take sack over making haphazard throw. Maestro of improv who is Second City worthy. Scrambling forces cornerbacks to choose between receiver and potential run support. Destroys pursuit angles when he runs. Has open field instincts and elusiveness of elite running back. Understands when his speed can eliminate a tackler and moves attention to the next level of danger. Red-zone juggernaut. Tallied 10 rushing touchdowns of over 40 yards in three seasons.

Why would the Jags draft another DB?

There’s a bunch of dudes left for the Pats that I would love that the pats would never draft

Lol, The Jags do have a nack for taking amateur college QBs and making them NFL players at other positions. Matt Jones (QB, Arkansas)was a legit WR for us back in the day. Then we got Nick Marshall (QB Auburn) and he contributed to the team for a few years.
But all kidding aside, The Jags told Lamar Jackson in their interview together, that Jackson wouldn’t be playing any other positions outside of QB.

How many rounds we doing OP?

we will do 2, and see how it goes. Think the most we have done is 3.

3... OP, if you run out of space in the top post, I can continue it in the second post. Just let me know.

In reality I could see the pats dangling this pick for someone who falls in love with Rudolph (and he may end up a pat himself if he falls)
But despite massive needs at tackle and linebacker, the pats are going to shock the world since they have two 2nd round picks to fill those needs and the elite talent at those positions have already been raided
So with the 31st pick the Patriots select.....
COURTLAND SUTTON, WR SMU
No way in hell this actually happens but this is all a Dream anyway. Sutton is a smooth 6’4 playmaking WR who will look like Frankenstein in the Pats WR room. Given all the uncertainty surrounding Gronk, the loss of Dola, the age/injury of Edelman, and Cooks being signed for one more seasons, WR is more pressing of a need that at first glance
Sutton gives the pats that big target that takes some seam and redzone pressure off of Gronks shoulders and the Pats finally stop trying to bargain bin shop in the draft for a WR and get a guy that some draft sites have rated as a top 5 player in the draft

yea pats are notorious for trading down

Depends how the chips fall but I could see them moving up this year if a OT or LB starts sliding a bit
If it falls like this I think they fall back because there’s a lot of second-third round talent that fit better than what’s left at those positions right now

With the 32nd overall pick and last in the first, your Super Bowl Champion Eagles select...
Orlando Brown, OL, Oklahoma
IRL, I expect the Eagles to trade this pick since they have no second or third rounders. I also considered Frank Ragnow from Arky, or a TE, but believe they can trade and pick up those needs later. Believe they will snag a receiver and possibly RB later and a DB. And also not sure how to add a picture from phone or even the little emojis everyone uses here lol.
Anyways,
Brown comes in with a massive frame combined with outstanding arm length that will make him a challenge to get around. Able to seal down blocks with his huge frame alone. Nasty finisher who is looking to intimidate and overwhelm the man across from him. Has pure power to get defenders turned out of the hole when his footwork is right. Linebackers looking to take on his second level blocks can be engulfed. Hands are heavy in pass protection and in run game. Kick-slides gain impressive ground in setting out to edge rushers. Consistent with punch timing. Can completely derail a pass rusher's game plan with early jabs into his frame. Uses maximum arm extension most of the time. Will not be bull rushed. Good recovery blocker thanks to length and strength. Doesn't always look pretty, but can ride rushers past the pocket. Keeps his feet moving and alive in pass protection. Comes from NFL bloodline. Will be somewhat of a project getting his big frame a little lower and a few other things that a good coach can fix. With his arm length and size he should be able to stay in the league quite a while.
