All of Girardi's pitching moves worked.
They did, but hindsight is 20/20. He wasn't playing good odds.
Hughes - Throwing very well, why throw your 'long man' for 4 innings?
Logan - Risky. You have a guy on already and you put in the pitcher with a WHIP north of 1.50. He did well but again...why pull Phil?
CC - Still don't agree with this one. He hasn't been good in the playoffs with NY, he's on 2 days rest, and coming out of the pen...which he hasn't done much.
Soriano - So inconsistent but I liked this move. I didn't agree with leaving him in for the next inning but like I said, hindsight is 50/50.
Robertson - Perfectly fine with throwing him here. I MAYBE would have left him in the 9th. You have your best hitters coming up in the 9th and if you get the lead/tie there then Mo isn't going 2 innings.
Mo - Again, IDK if I would have used him here but it wasn't a bad move.

Y'all were bitching about that but one run over seven innings...can't ask for much more.
It worked well. Wasn't the "smart" thing to do but it worked. This series is 110% on our offense.
Bitch Tits got 2 hits that didn't mean much.
Tex was bad. .286 OBP won't cut it in October.
Swisher was mediocre. He got hits, but not when they were really needed.
Jeter wasn't great but wasn't bad.
Jorge?
Granderson was good.
Cano was good.
Gardner was great.
Martin was poo. Didn't do a damn thing when it mattered.

Not really. Look at the 90's teams. They were a perfect blend of young talent and above-average role players.

Because the vast majority of people hate free enterprise.

closer pitches the top of the 9th in a 1-run or tie game at home.
this your first time watching baseball?

Nope. Its probably nit-picking but I trust Robinson enough to hold a tie/score there. I don't like anyone else in a tight situation IF we take the lead in the 9th.
Robertson has been great this year and we had the heart of the order up. If he gets in trouble, bring mo in. If not, you have him rested for a save or an inning of extras.
Like I said, its nit picky.

Then I'll bet you would love to see no caps in the NFL as well...that way only the huge market teams could contend....know what THAT would mean ???? ANY team not in a top 10 market would NEVER even have a chance at a superbowl i.e. that's Green Bay, New Orleans, Indy and on and on and on ! See how a cap might actually HELP mlb become a meaningful sport again ???? You catching my drift/logic ? The NBA is basically in the same boat in that only a half dozen teams can truly contend...makes for a most boring sport/season !

1) MLB has just as much, if not more parity as the NFL.
2) Might wanna look into payrolls before you use those teams as an example.
3) The NBA has a cap and look at the mess they're in.

maybe in terms of championships but not in terms of making the playoffs. the only reason is that the sample size is so small int he playoffs anyone can win

Sports teams aren't really separate entities competing, they are divisions of the same entity competing.

Funny thing is you probably love the Red Sox. Their payroll is very comparable to the Yanks but all the bandwagon fans who hate the Yanks for spending 120mil LOVE the Sawx even though they spend 112mil.

I think it would be great if the Sox and the Yankees played only each other, in a two team division and were allowed to spend as much money as they wanted and were given a single wildcard playoff spot to fight for. In short put the two on a fricking island so the rest of Baseball can live sensibly within their means

As Yankee fans, we just need to face reality.
We were not going to win the World Series with that rotation.
It was a pleasant surprise during the regular season, but towards playoff time, Garcia and Colon really started to struggle. So did CC.
Baseball fans who hate the Yankees can celebrate all they want and laugh about a Yankees postseason "choke", but the fact is that no team is going to win a World Series with that rotation. End of story.
I am looking forward to the offseason, and seeing what Cashman does a year after not doing anything during last winter.
This team has a shite ton of talent, and the lineup is no doubt championship caliber. Just needs some tweaks.
The rotation is not championship caliber, but I don't believe that Garcia or Colon will be back.

I was very surprised at last nights result. You can blame the pitching all you want. It was the Yankee BATS that were the problem this series.
