Cubby thing was insanely annoying for a while. Yeah, I understand some of that was driven by WGN.
Same with TBS and the Braves. As a young boy in a place where there wasn't a local team, you have to pull for someone. So you end up pulling for Mark Grace, Ryne Sandburg, Andre Dawson OR Dale Murphy, Smotlz.Glavine /Maddoux because they were on TV 3-4 afternoons a week when you got home from school. I had followed the Astros because my grandad was a big fan (used to listen on the radio with him) but most of my friends growing up were Cubs or Braves fans only because of those networks. The whole....you cant be a fan because you're not from there or been there is stupid.
I recognize this isn't what the OP was implying but addressing the sidebar conversation as a whole.

Probably more Laker "fans" here in the Atlanta area than Hawks fans.
Is this Code for Atlanta has a lot of Mexicans?

Or Cubs fans who have never set foot in Chicagoland.
They were f’n everywhere from 2016-18.

With all the bandwagon Bron Bron fans, it's the Lakers easily.

Thank god the Cubs won that World Series because the nationwide Cubby thing was insanely annoying for a while. Yeah, I understand some of that was driven by WGN.
We didn’t go nowhere. You’ll see the second half of the season

I grew up an 80s Showtime fan of the Lakers and again in Shaq era. I’ve mostly pulled against them since.
I’ve never been to LA. I’ll always remember getting my own little TV in room and staying up to watch Magic in the late TBS slot. Then going to bed at halftime when they were already up by 20.

I'm a stockholder so I have a connection.
Of course, not actually a fan but if I were I would have a connection.
