Yankee fans, thoughts on starting Severino tonight?

I’m pretty uneasy about him taking the mound in this situation. He shite the bed early in the Wild Card game - in a moment that just looked and felt too big for him. I feel like we should have known that was coming - as he struggled mightily against the Twins earlier in the year.

Similarly, Sev has not done well against Houston this year. He was pulled after 4 innings due to throwing discomfort earlier in this series - although he seemed to be pitching well enough. But earlier this season, he was taken to school twice by this Houston club.

Does Severino have what it takes to beat Verlander?

My fear is that Houston is able to wake the bats up against a shaky Severino, and then they go into Game 7 with a lot of confidence and big swings. That’s worst case scenario, IMO, and Severino is the only starter for the Yankees that I’d be concerned for that happening.

As a Yankee fan, I'm more worried about Verlander than I am Severino....guy looked absolutely unhittable game 2

This series is going 7 regardless of who the Yankees are throwing. Verlander gives the Stros hope but NY wins Saturday

Don’t have an NFL or NBA team. My grandfather used to take my dad to Yankees games when he was a child. He had a cousin with Leukemia, and NYC was virtually the only place to get great treatment.

For my 18th birthday, he gave me his baseball signed by the 1962 New York Yankees. Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, etc... and took me on a road trip from Tuscaloosa to New York City to watch the Yankees play in person. Got to see Derek Jeter, Jason Giambi, Mariano Rivera, Robinson Cano, Hideki Matsui, Jorge Posada, Bernie Williams, Alex Rodriguez, Gary Sheffield, etc... and they played against Sammie Sosa’s Baltimore Orioles. Quite an experience.

My Yankees fanhood is something very special to me as one of the few bonds I have with my dad.

He is their best starter and he is going on normal rest. Seems like an easy call assuming his arm is okay. If he gets in trouble early, turn it over the bullpen.

Dude, you don't have to justify your Fandom to strangers on the Internet that question it

I enjoy telling the story behind it. I catch shite for being a Yankees fan all the time.

Respect the bonding and sentimental aspect of your story. One of the best things about sports is being able to connect with your teams like this.

BUT.....

....don't bring that sensitive stuff into the DAT board!! hahaha. I'll be up in the nosebleeds tonight enjoying an emotional rollercoaster end to the series. Hope we get to battle it out in game 7.

I worry about the fact he seemed injured at the end of his last start. Stuff wise He can match up just need to keep it close til we can get to their bullpen. Houston’s bats are going to wake up at some point let’s hope It’s not tonight

Tanaka couldn’t pitch against the Astros, either, until game 5. Gotta go with what you have.

Not a Yankee fan but he is the best guy you have available. He didn't look good in the WC game but pitched well in Game 2 and I think he pitched in the Indians series and pitched well there too.
