Dang, that’s a terrible disease.

Where do you see prion disease? That would be incredibly rare
Maybe 100 or so cases a year in this country

At least it’s quick. A few months at most from the onset of symptoms until death.

The main human prion diseases include:
Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD) — the most common; usually occurs spontaneously.
Classic CJD: Found essentially worldwide. About 85% is sporadic, meaning there isn't an identifiable exposure or family pattern.

Adds up with how he took a medical leave in February with no health issues through last year and then died 8 months later.
Poor guy, may he rest in peace.

Goddamn that's awful.
Prayers for his family and the Yale football team.

Its usually acquired by either eating infected beef or through a blood transfusion of someone infected. It doesn't happen spontaneously. He was exposed to it.

Father of one of my HS classmates had it. They thought he got it from eating squirrel brains.

I looked it up a little bit last night.
About 300 cases in our country per year.
The sad thing is that it’s fatal. You will die. No rooting for a cure, nothing they can do to prolong life. You are just part of an uncertain timetable.
That’s awful and I pray for his loved ones.
