Brutal hand for Villa right before the break, top 2 pair vs a set of 8's.
Just like that he's out.

i know we have the luxury of seeing what everyone has, but you had to think he had either pocket 6's or 5's, maybe 8's but since Villa had an 8 you kind of say maybe not.
But to check raise after the flop he either had pocket something and got a set or he still had the high pair on the board with his pocket 9's or 10's or j's. He wouldn't have called preflop unless he had pockets or he had two face cards, and if he had two face cards, he would have folded after the check raise. If he had pocket A's or something high, he probably would have raised preflop. There's no way he was playing cards that would have given him the straight with calling preflop and then the check raise.
He had to either have a set, or he had pocket 10's or something, and if he had pocket 9's then he has a straight. Very hard decision to fold there, but i think it was obvious to fold the A8 with how the other guy was betting.
there's my dumbass arm chair poker take for the day.

Maurice out. Maybe he can repay his backers.

Oh I agree, the texture of that board was way to scary to think your two pair are good given his betting on each street.

Isn't Omaha or HORSE the true measure of a player's ability? Or is it really Hold 'Em?
Just thought Hold 'Em was forced action by the blinds and antes or am I completely mistaken?

Horse is considered the all around game for sure but all the tournament structures have blinds and antes that increase.
Much fewer in the 50k horse field, usually all the top pros

With how slow the levels move up in the main event, that’s not an issue
