Miles isn't close to being the worst bowl coach ever. He's had a rough couple of recent years but before that he was pretty good in bowls.

Miles will only get worse if you ask me. he was 1-2 before coming to LSU and went 4-0 right off the bat with Saban's recruits so he looked much better than he really was. now he has gone 1-3 in his last four bowl games including back to back extremely embarrassing losses to bring his overall record to 6-5.

A lot of great coaches had average bowl records, mainly due to their consistent bowl appearances.

Tom Osborne, Bear Bryant, Bo Schembecler, LaVell Edwards, Joe Paterno, Steve Spurrier, Vince Dooley, Bobby Bowden, Frank Beamer, etc. were all in the top 8 coaches with losing bowl records.

Jim Tressel. Flame away.

Half or so of his big games, bowls included, he showed up with a nonexistent gameplan. Not a shitty gameplan, but NO gameplan. It's like he and his staff didn't scout their opponent at all.

The ironic thing is, he showed several times he had the ability to scheme the frick out of you (Oregon in the Rose, TX in 2006, 2002 BCSNC). It was maddening.

I looked up Bryant and the guy above is right didn't realize he was about 50%. Anyway all I can think is Bowls were looked at much different then than they are now so Stoops may take the cake big dog...

6-5 still isn't close to the worst bowl coach ever. And get out with that saban recruit stuff. You act like miles has been recruiting players that are complete shite.

Well if you went 8 bowls without a win then I would say its about as bad as it looks.

Maybe this chart will give some of you travesties for football fans some perspective.

LINK /

Update it for the two bowls since then Miles is 6-5. There are literally tens of active coaches with worse records, and few than ten with more wins. Interestingly enough, your god Saban is 7-6.

Still going with Weis.

Everybody brings up Tressel and Miles.

Name another coach who got bitch slapped by BOTH OF THEM in BCS games.

Bryant had an okay bowl record, but he went 8 bowl games without a single win (1967-74). That makes it seem worse than it really was
How does that make it seem worse than it was? The order of the losses doesn't matter...

He lost 8 in a row. There is no "seem" about it.

FWIW, Tressel did manage to bitchslap Weis and Miles that one time. (The other time more than negated it though.)
