Laak still playing(although he took a break) for over 100 hours now.

Matusow's comments during the $10K Stud 8 on Dwan in the NLHE Final Table:

quote:
"Does anyone in poker have any money left if durrrr wins that tournament? I know I don't!" Mike Matusow screamed as he stood up from his table to get a better look at the Laker game. "And I'll admit it!"
In an interview with our own Gloria Balding earlier in the week, Dwan was not specific on the amount wagered, but told us that should he ship his "bracelet bet," it would be his largest single-day win ever.
"Hey, did anyone like lay 3-1 on how many times durrr would get it in as a 4-1 dog? The over won on that one!" Matusow added.
Presently, Dwan is up to 2.26 million in chips with ten players remaining in Event #11, $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em. That's about 20% of the total chips in play.
quote:
"You know what? I've got jobs lined up in the casino for everyone if Tom wins. Seriously, I've talked to people here. Everyone gets a job!" Mike Matusow shouted across the room.
The number one topic of conversation here is still the massive bracelet bets a slew of high-stakes pros have made against Tom Dwan. Two tables away from Matusow, Jean-Robert Bellande piped up that should Dwan win, Huck Seed would be out $350,000 after betting against him at 3.5-1 odds. Matusow is in for $57,000 at 3.2-1 odds and many of the "Big Game" players also have bets in at 3.2-1.
Matusow and Bellande then began jawing back and forth about another WSOP wager they made back at the PokerStars Carribean Adventure. Bellande alleged that Matusow put up 30,000 to his 10,000 on two bets-- a bracelet bet, and one over who would rack up the most tournament earnings at the WSOP.
"I figured you woudn't be in action when I made that bet. How you doing in cash?" Matusow asked.
"Up $4,200."
"I'm up a big f**kin' zero. Wait, how are you in this tournament for $10,000?"
"My backer doesn't know how bad I'm doing."
Matusow then began to argue. "I wouldn't lay 3-1 on most amount cashed. Maybe most cashes, but not most amount cashed. That I know for sure. Do you have it in your phone?"
"Everyone saw it. Justin was there, he laid 3 to 1 too."
"I did not lay 3 to 1" Smith said from the table behind Matusow.
"It's tough not to lay 3-1 against a guy you know will never win one!" Matusow...

Dwan short stack but not too bad with 3 people left now
Posted on 6/7/10 at 1:18 am to PokerChamp21
Apparently half the $10K room is anti Dwan according to Shannon Shorr. Dwan can still take it with three left.
Laak at 107 hours of constant play and up in chips...solid degenerate and amazing.

why is everyone against Dwan?

Cause he's a great internet cash game player, who sucks at live tourneys and has shown no signals of ever getting close to winning any live tourney. Most of the live pros are betting big against him winning a bracelet.

Mostly because he has side action against many of them, getting 3/1 or 3.2 to 3.5 /1 odds, for major dinero, to win an 2010 WSOP event. Also his supreme confidence via his internet prowess, like with many other pros, it becomes an ego battle. One the live game and/or large cash gamers, are eager to challenge with their pockets.
In Poker, it's goading can serve a purpose, in creating some nice side bet action, and nice overlays.
It's the same way to smaller degree with many professional sportsbettors, handicappers, BMs, etc..always competing for the best opening numbers, or arguing over best ROI, win pct, bankroll/play size, net worths, etc..making large side wagers, or prop plays, amongst themselves.
It's just the nature of the beast for many professionally involved to gambling..huge egos..and battles of wits.
After decades of winning, many are so loaded, that it's long no more about the cash, but the action, and they must have some to most anything, especially Poker players. Guys like Ivey, Negreanu, Cloutier, Matusow, Lindgren, etc..are first-rate action junkies.

Damn, are they playing right now, or did they break it until morning?

I bet there's a nervous group of who's who in the poker world railbirding that right now.

yeah im sure ever since it got to 3 handed and now to heads up its been quite boring for the most part.
Posted on 6/7/10 at 5:05 am to PokerChamp21
Dwan finally got frustrated and shoved with Q6 and got snap called and beat by Watt's 99.. A lot of people are happy for now

Anyone play any WSOP qualifiers online? Step tourneys or satellites?
If you're looking for a long shot, but a good one, Full Tilt offers the $1 buy-in tournament every Sunday with the Top 5 finishers earning the $12k package. Good news is, its $1. Bad news is, about 25k people play. Me and my brother played this past weekend and he finished 160th. Pretty damn good. But all it takes is 1 tourney with a good run of cards and hey, nice ROI.

Damn. If Dwan's opponent had anything less than a pocket pair he probably would have fiolded to that all in.

Saw that tourney and almost tried it, but I need to be able to devote the whole afternoon for it. Tried the Steps on Stars a few timeswith no luck. If I can find them on FT I might try to use some freeroll tourney tickets I won.
