Yes. Our Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are making moves baw. It's nice that this state has a football program with a promising future. Jump on the bandwagon now friends.

I’m honestly surprised that La. Tech has a better program and in CUSA and Cajuns are still in Sun Belt. No way Ruston has more money than Lafayette.

The PAC-12 is getting killed financially.

ULL is the only solution.

I know this is a flame, but they should be in CUSA.

I mean maybe to cusa but that’s about as far as I would see them going. I don’t think any G5 teams will make too many moves until the dust settles after the next big boy expansion. Why spend money making a move that could turn into a largely lateral one 5 years later if the P5’s break away?

Honestly I wanna see ULM drop down to FCS, but I’m largely in the minority there in terms of Monroe folk.

10 years ago, ULL was literally the worst program in 1A. I’m not even exaggerating.

First, dominate your own conference before you think about moving.

Never should have moved, but they will bankrupt themselves trying to keep up with Tech.

yea i dont get it. The only sports the sunbelt is head and shoulders better in is football and baseball anyway, both of which we are trash in. If we wouldve stayed FCS and been apart of the Southland i dont think that would have handicapped us much in terms of recruiting (not like were really competing there in fbs anyway) and we were starting to really be competitive on the fcs level when we jumped up. I understand the want to keep up with the Jones' and everything but you have to realize whehn its more detrimental than beneficial.

I was gonna come in here and say that in terms of facilities and budgets, the Cajuns are better than most of the rest of the Conference. But I did a quick check and saw that our budget is towards the lower half of the conference ( LINK). Although, there is a huge drop off after us. I think this is a product of the Sun Belt adding some quality programs recently and people not realizing the strides it has made in recent years. With that said, I'd still love to get out of the belt and go to CUSA. But we have a ways to go in terms of our budget. It's doable though. Our facilities are definitely better than most in the SBC.

We have the potential to get out in the next 5 years for sure. Our budget has grown a lot recently and we just really need to keep up that growth and hopefully that'll lead to more success on the field soon.

Totally agree, but if Tech has one, ULM thinks they have one, too. And, frankly, it was fun playing them in the Southland.

yea thats true. wish wed just let tech be tech and leave it alone. its not like were every gonna have scheduled games against them anytime soon anyway. Just give it up and focus on making what we have better for us, I think Bruno has done a great job with that in the academics department but its time to commit to it in athletics.

There is no reason Tech and ULM shouldn't play every 4-5 years. It makes sense financially for both teams.

I hope the Louisiana Warhawks go with UL-Lafayette to maintain the rivalry.

What conference would be a better fit than the Sun Belt for these 2?

It wouldn’t make sense for ULM to move to the FCS right now. They have been investing more into their program lately; hired Matt Viator and improved their facilities. They aren’t in terrible shape at the moment.

However, I think down the road we could see more struggling, low budget FBS programs drop down like Idaho did. Right now teams are obviously going to stay put, and more teams are going to want in the FBS as well to get a piece of the pie: Conference money, TV money, bowl games. Over time schools like UMASS, Charlotte, and Kent state are going to evaluate what they are doing playing FBS football. Tulane did this in 2005 (which really angered me at the time and I’m glad we kept football). Most people remember UAB also did this a few years ago, dropped football then brought it back.

The Cajuns went 6-6 in 2008, not great but far from the "worst" in D1

I'd rather G5 schools get away from bowls and have their own league with playoffs. The Cajuns playing Tulane and Southern Miss in a playoff game in Lafayette is far more fun than playing North Idaho State in the Beef OBradys Bowl
