Also I wonder if we limit off-field coaches/analysts/shadow staff if that wouldn't remove some advantages.

I know how valuable they've been at LSU and obviously Alabama is known for theirs. A lot of schools aren't willing/able to build such a massive machine.

Some people might laugh at that, but those guys put in fricking work. They are a really, really big advantage if your opponent doesn't have the same thing going on.

Doubtful. Significant system changes would be required, and I'm not even sure what those changes are or if they would even be that effective. Scholly limit reduction may help, but that's an assumption until we see it actually implemented anyway.

There's still the issue of what even defines 'parity' in CFB. In the general sense of parity, CFB has never had parity, period. If you mean at least more than 10 teams have a remote chance, then there's an argument. To argue for parity in a system in which the P5 & G5 is still linked however is purely wishful thinking.

To go on top of that, there's the issue of the post-season being decided by non-objective factors. Even during the BCS, this was an issue, so lets not pretend it's just the committee, although they're a problem in their own right.

Exactly. Ultimately, you have to ask universities and colleges to agree to surrender their individual power for the “greater good”. Right now, CFB is ruled by Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma and a handful of others trying to cling to Superman’s cape and occasionally finding crumbs of success. Good luck getting them to give up their cash cows so the BYUs and Georgia Techs and UCFs and Arizonas of the world have a “fair” shot.

Plus, we’d have to dump about 80 FBS teams from the league. Tulsa can go play FCS. Boise can reschedule games with Idaho. There’s just way too many half-assed programs that don’t have the resources, support, facilities or fanbase to justify existing with the major football programs. Again, good luck culling them.

A 60-team league would work and be great. But most FBS programs would get culled to lower level leagues or vanish overnight. That’s a big ask for the sake of improving our entertainment value.

60 teams. 30 teams per conference. 6 teams in each division. Play 5 division opponents, 4 non-divisional conference opponents and 3 cross-conference opponents. 5 division winners advance to playoffs along with non-division winner with best record. 6 playoff teams in each conference. Top 2 get a bye. First Round, Divisional Round, Conference Championship and NCG. The most games played is 16. Most would play 15 or less. Keeps most rivalries and regional matchups in place and offers a completely objective path to a championship.

Do away with scholarship limitations. Best programs who strive to be the best get rewarded. Piddling-assed teams who don’t try hard get creamed. If you want to be in an elite league with the Bamas of the world, get off your arse. Don’t force recruits to settle for attending shitty schools because you want to restrict their access. They can always transfer it they’re not happy.

This would work bigly, but no way it happens.
