Will Andrew Luck have a better rookie year than Cam Newton?

Cam set a rookie record with over 4000 passing yards and throwing for 20 TD's while rushing for over 700 yards and setting another QB record with 14 rushing TD's. Obviously Luck is highly unlikely to surpass Newton's rushing totals, but who who will be remembered as having the overall statistically superior rookie season?

We'll have to re-visit when we see what the Colts put around him. Because of Wayne and Garcon bolt, he's not going to have much to throw to.

frick no, even though he's an egocentric sob, he will be a great. Cam is good.

No, he won't come close IMO

I actually think Robert Griffen is going to have a better rookie season if he gets a chance to play.....Maybe I should duck

who cares about stats in a losing effort?

I ask this because Luck is being regarded as the best prospect in 30 years, being immediately ready to play with the chance to win multiple Super Bowls and having a great chance at the HOF(Kiper
). Yet, Newton's greatest asset was supposedly his potential and his extremely high ceiling.
While possessing this potential, he had arguably the greatest rookie season for a QB ever. Most don't seem to think that Luck will be able to match Newton's accomplishments early on, yet even with Newton's enormous potential (and proven success at the NFL level), Luck is still regarded as the better prospect. I don't see the drastic separation that is said to exist.

He may be a better prospect but that doesn't mean he will have a better season. They are two different situations and I don't see luck being able to put up those numbers in his first season but luck has the potential to be as good or better than cam down the road

Andrew Luck is simply the closest thing we have ever seen to a perfect prospect since John Elway. IMO, he is the probably the best prospect of all-time, since QBs are held to a higher standard in modern times.
If Cam and Luck were in the same draft class, then 32 out of 32 teams would have taken Luck first. He is clearly the superior prospect. Will he be the better NFL QB? Hell if I know.
Luck's development of a QB is lightyears ahead of Cam in terms of pro development at the times of their respective drafts. Obviously, Cam has proven he can play as a competent, talented, and potential superstar QB, but that does not mean he is the superior prospect.
Cam had a season for the ages at Auburn and a terrific rookie year, but he does not quite give NFL GM's wet dreams like Luck does.

Luck's rookie year won't even be Andy Dalton level.

I disagree. Moreover, I think he is set up to fail and will be regarded as a bust in 12 years relative to his hype coming into the league.
I think he will prove to be a solid starter in the NFL, nothing more.

I disagree.
How is he not a terrific prospect? I never said anything about his actual production in the pros because that has never happened yet.
Please explain to me how Andrew Luck is not a great prospect.

Being the best prospect has a lot to do with being a SURE thing. Luck's bust factor is practically zilch. That's why he is so coveted. Who knows how good he becomes and I doubt he's the next John Elway. But he'll be good enough in the league to win.

He is a great prospect...to say he is the best prospect ever is ridiculous. Jeff George was also the best prospect ever and we see how that turned out.
Edit: To that point, how is he better, at this point in his career, than Matt Stafford leaving UGA three years ago? Stafford is a very good NFL QB that has been slowed by injuries. He has a better arm than Luck, similar intellect and played for three years in a better conference against better competition.
