It's probably more popular in this country than soccer.

From woman's basketball online. Avg WNBA attendance in 2009 was 9,428.

Avg attendance for MLS games:
2009 avg, 14,452
2010 avg, 16,236

I'm glad your sport is more popular than women's basketball.

I was just proving you wrong about your claim that women's basketball was more popular. I'm sorry you took it so hard.

You compare only based on a professional league?

How do you leave out HS Women's Basketball?

NCAA Womens basketball?

You think you would find 1 person in 100 that would even know who won the NCAA mens soccer championship versus??

Seriously its apparently a sport dominated by St Louis.. I had to look it up..

heres a hint:

most soccer fans dont give a frick about MLS

so basing your assumptions of soccers popularity on the MLS #s are pointless

more ppl probably follow the EPL on this forum than the MLS, as a small snapshot/subset example

its not 1950 anymore. we have the internet. we have access to watch matches we didnt have access to watch before.

I'll say it one more time, after further evidence:

It really is humorous how clueless catman is.

I thought it would be only appropriate since I don't know how to accrue information about amateur sports, and it would only be beneficial to compare the sports at equal levels.

College soccer is the reason that America is behind the soccer 8-ball in comparison to the rest of the world. It's not even the best amateur league for the sport in the states. The USL is.

I disagree, and the data shows otherwise.

us getting the World Cup board must suck for a few... i mean to be so convinced that everyone hates soccer and that everyone agrees with your opinion, only to find out you are completely wrong, must be troubling for some here.

i think a lot of people are getting hate confused with indifference. of course there are some people that hate soccer, but i think most are indifferent.

ok, perhaps, ill reword... a large % of soccer fans in the U.S do not give a frick about MLS

so basing soccers popularity solely on MLS leaves out a large % of soccer's american fanbase

Dude, soccer is very popular outside of America.

But it's not popular in America.

You've got to realize this.

I don't care if you like it.

OP asked why the hate for soccer? We told him.

That I agree with. Soccer is much more popular than people here want to admit. I'm not sure why they then feel the need to attack it, but some of the misinformation in here is fairly stupid.

I agree. Just don't see how you can hate something you don't know or gave a chance to. If you're not interested don't join the discussion or change the channel when it comes on. Hell I have no interest when I see fishing, indy car racing, or pool come on espn but I don't hate those sports just could care less
