I became a fan of KD he has that IDGAF attitude now and made a move he knew he would get slammed for. Bc it's what he wanted to do. Dude couldn't care less what everybody else thinks he was gonna do what made KD happy. that's a mans man kinda move.

I see that bait being set.

They didn't even win last season, and were taken to game 7 in the WCF, it's hardly a guarantee that they would have won this season.

Yup. Not outside the realm of possibility that OKC or SA would have picked them off this season had they stayed pat.

They won 73 games and had a 3-1 lead in the finals and would have won probably if Dray doesn't get suspended. Of course it wasn't a sure thing but let's not pretend like there were more than 2 teams that could beat them anyways.

They would have been the favorites again

Bc of jealousy and envy, for the rest of time KD's resume will read 2017 NBA Champion, 2017 NBA Finals MVP and people for some reason won't appreciate that. THIS IS THE FREE AGENCY CONTEXT THAT WAS CREATED DEAL WITH IT!

Favorites, yes, but not nearly a slam dunk. OKC would have been out for blood, and Kawhi became a full fledged nightmare with SA.

SAS, OKC, CLE.

Sure. Slight favorite vs CLE. Again, nothing near a guarantee.

The main problem I think is fans knew it was going to make Golden State way too strong. It's frustrating to know your team has almost no chance at winning a championship and it's not too exciting to see the front runner just blow everyone away.

Sport exists for the sake of competition. High level competition is entertaining. The sports industry nowadays depends on entertainment.

Suggesting KD's move killed competitive balance gives him too much credit. I have at least come around to that.

What his move did do, however, was go against the ideals of sport. His move was truly a 'if you can't beat em', join em' sort of thing. That's not indicative of a legendary player. Every NBA legend seems to have moments where they slay the dragon so-to-speak. Even with this title, he has no moment. It's not because he was so dominant and made it look easy, it's because playing with a cast of All-Stars took care of the dirty work.

The same people who would preach loud and long about the ideals of sport would crucify him if he finished his sterling individual career without a ring.

Can't win with fickle sportsfans, so you have to do what's best for your personal career. Just like any other profession. He absolutely did the right thing.

And I hate KD
