I have to imagine a 12 team playoff(which I’m not a fan of) will probably produce more meaningful and impactful post season CFB games.

And produce more meaningful late season games.

Instead of maybe 6 teams battling for the top 4 spots at the end of the year, there will now be 20+ with legit postseason chances going into November.

are group of 5 champs getting auto bids? because that’s outrageous. there won’t be a single year where the mac or sunbelt champion will give any power 5 champ a competitive game. imagine bowling green playing ohio state in a playoff game. a butt fricking of the century

Top 6 conference champs. It will always have one G5, with an off chance of 2 occasionally making.

And this is the key. I am a fan/alumni of an FCS team and the hunt for the playoffs is exciting. So you drop a game or two during the season, the entire season still matters because you're trying to play your way in. So if you lose a game the season isn't over. Fans are still engaged.

The coverage will broaden out. Instead of talking about the same 4-6 teams now there are 20 teams that are in the hunt pairing down to the final 12. Talent will also broaden out.

This is a good thing and long overdue.

G5 needs their own playoffs Which would immediately be considered not the “real” playoff.

This. The G5 wants to play for the actual national championship, not a shitty one they made up

Don’t think any conferences should have an automatic bid… just take 1-12. Usually the best G5 is in the top 12

Would you prefer Oklahoma, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Clemson, and 8 SEC teams?

How would it be different than the FCS playoff?

It wouldn’t in terms of perception, as it would still be viewed as inferior to a P5-only playoff.

Because a good G5 team can beat 2/3’s of the teams in P5 conferences? Obviously the top P5 teams like Bama, OSU, etc. will beat a G5 team more often than not, but Purdue? Tennessee? Most of the ACC? Put them on the field with Cincinnati last year and Cincy beats them soundly. Remember when an undefeated 2017 UCF was left out of the CFP and #7 Auburn was supposed to dominate them to make a point about G5 teams? My point is if they earned it then let them play for it. There’s no place for elitism is college football.

Yes, because schools like Vandy, Illinois, and Wake Forrest should have an outside shot at a championship because they were around when a few select clubs were formed over a century ago at the exclusion of other programs that are far more successful...

Yep and the following to your list:

Miss St
Ole Miss
Iowa St
Kansas
S Carolina
Washington St
Kentucky
Etc

All schools that have no chance at winning an NC in FB
