Purdue is a motherfricker of a road game. House of horrors over there. People hate them because they play the game the right way and win with undervalued, underrated guys. People hate this because they love superstars and flash unless it’s some unknown program or an Ivy League.

Maybe you just hate gritty white guys? I’m assuming you also enjoyed the Bad Bunny Halftime show too

Not sure Fletcher Loyer fits that’s description

He was a high profile regional recruit with offers from the Michigan schools.
Purdue has inked exactly 1 McDonalds AA since Matt Painters took over damn near 20 years ago—Caleb Swannigan in 2015.
Their success is astounding. Blue bloods ink these guys every year.

I don't think its hate of Purdue. It's just that they have been overshadowed by other Big Ten programs. Ok, three Final Fours compared to MSU with 10 (2 National Titles), Ohio State with 10 (1 Title) Indiana with 8 (5 Titles), and Michigan with 6 (1 Title). These final fours and national championships have been through decades. MSU has final fours in the 1950s, 1970s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s. Indian under Branch McCracken and Bobby Knight have 5 titles in the 1940s, 1950s, 1970s and 1980s.
How many does Purdue have?

They have 13 regular season Big Ten titles, 16 Sweet 16s, 6 elite 8s, and 3 FF since 1969. Overall tourney record of 51-36.
They’re a wildly consistent program that struggles to get over the hump as a national title contender.

Dude has won 69% of his games at Purdue and is quietly putting together a Hall of Fame resumé. 5 B1G titles, 3 tourney titles, 9 Sweet 16s, 1 Elite 8, 1 National Runner Up. He’s missing one thing at this point…

Purdue is top tier in B1G in this recent era. Michigan State won a title in 2000, and Michigan in 1989.
Indiana and Ohio State have historically achieved more, but that history doesn’t equate to anything in 2026. Neither one of them have achieved much of anything in the last decade.

I don't hate Purdue at all.
I just think it's considered to be an extremely dull big school for the casual sports fan in most regions. Most of us have no interest/connection to their history or rivalries. They're in an extremely overlooked state (perhaps unfairly). Not a lot of drama good or bad.
I think schools/programs like that end up annoying sports fans. Which is kind of ridiculous as they're doing nothing wrong, but I also think it's human nature.

OK. I stand corrected. It just shows how overshadowed they are by so many other schools in the Big Ten.
Or it shows how uninformed you are.

Bump
They sure do flop a lot

I blame the refs for losing control of the game. It was like two teams even on talent, but one had the veteran mentality, one was making dumb mistakes.

Pretty sure most people who follow cbb know Purdue is a basketball power in the Midwest.
Dude, wtf

Yup, and that’s exactly why the refs lost control. It looked like holding in the NFL where you could call it all night.
Posted on 3/26/26 at 10:27 pm to TexasTiger08
They were hooking because they realized refs weren’t calling it.
That’s called the nuance of the game.
Purdue capitalized, and that’s why they won.
Good coaching. Good execution.
