He's a worse analyst than I am poster and Rifle can be pretty bad. He just called Johnny Manziel the best qb on the Browns and then all the real analysts said he's having terrible camp. Connor shaw is better. So why is he on TV besides to do that "TV coach loud voice" speak.

That's because he is.

I don't mind Herm all that much. A matter of fact, he called the LSU/Miss St game a few years back and did a pretty good job. I can understand people might not liking his delivery. But he knows what he's talking about.

He knows his stuff. Can give perspective as a long time player and coach.

I sort of like the tough old guy throwback schtick, but I could see where people are getting annoyed by his overexposure. Is he really any worse than Ditka, who is the same act with less analysis?

Yeah I think Ditka was/is the worst. I understand the allure of the old tough crotchety retired coach speaking his mind, but his comments are typically neither interesting nor insightful.

I like Herm. He's better than most of those other clowns on BSPN

In what way? Because he said Manziel is the best option in Cleveland. That isn't far fetched

He's on ESPN because he coached the Jets and the media likes him because of the "You play to win the game!" speech. That's it. Guy with his resume who coached the Jacksonville Jaguars, he ain't popping up on ESPN

Herm is great. Manziel is the best qb the Browns have talent wise, I just don't think he has the head for the NFl. Connor Shaw on the other hand seems to have it going on up stairs so he probably is their best choice.

Well just after he said that, a Hasselbeck and a cleveland beat reporter both said manziel looked awful. I'm not debating that point, it's just that he speaks in such general platitudes, with little x & os; "fly to the ball" "get them" "hard nose". Wtf does that mean? I want to know why Peyton hit Thomas on that route, "oh it's because the safety moved over" not "Peyton's a big time gamer".

So that would mean Manziel is not the best QB on the Browns roster, correct?

This. And also because he is the good guy for the rookies, IMO. "Don't get caught up chasing tail, save your money, etc." Not that this is a bad thing but I think it's another reason he is constantly on TV. I feel he tries way too hard.
