not that many have won championships, there are a few, just not many, and it mostly has to do with the type of offense ran, if it's a pocket passer, like J-marc, I'm sure they would recruit him if he was in there area and they thought they had a chance with him.

so many top QBs are black, but they never seem to go to Southern Cal. Now that I think about it, I can't ever think of a Pete Carroll coached team that had a black QB. what's up with that?

Because the #1 HS QB's that they get are not black...and all the other reasons posted by SC fans in this thread.

By the way, Pete made it official, Mustain is the third string QB. I am sure a hissy fit is soon to follow.

With Sanchez bing only a junior, Corp being a redshirt frosh, and the #1 QB Barkley coming in next year, Mitch might just be lucky to end up another Matt Cassell.

I also think a lot of it has to do with the formations and offense USC runs. They don't have any packages that really utilize the QB has a dual threat. It's usually handoff or 3-5 step drop and pass. A guy like Shep or VY or Michael Vick would lose an entire demension of what makes them a unique playmaker. Guys like Palmer/Leinart/Sanchez are guys who excell at throwing the ball and learning an offense. That's what USC's offense calls for.

And by the same token, since USC's offense is a pro-style offense, USC quarterbacks will be better prepared to succeed in the NFL whilst spread offense QB's are simply unprepared.
