Man, get that bug out your butt. It's affecting your judgement.

The fact that he was so far ahead in a race that is typically so close and was able to showboat makes it WAY more impressive and memorable than merely breaking a world record would have been.
I'm sure he'll break the world record at some stupid Euro meet that none of us know about.

Quite possible that they framed it and took his fastest 40 consecutive meters for a 3.5. Course not equivalent to a 40 m dash. Is it possible that at top speed he was in the range?
So let's say (for the sake of argument), he ran the first 40 yards in 4.1 seconds. If that's the case, then he covered the remaining 70 yards (100 m is about 110 yards) in 5.59 seconds or 12.5 yards per second on average (of course he could have been even faster). This means that at some point during the race he undoubtedly ran a 40 yard stretch of 3.5 seconds or faster (12.5 yards per second X 3.5 seconds is over 43 yards).

I am not doubting how impressive it was in the least. By far, the most impressive 100 m ever.

I am somewhat surprised that Bolt's showboating prior to finishing did not get more negative ettention and backlash--other than the cursory "would he have ran a sub .60 time?".
This reads like a backdoor attempt at....If a white guy had done this.....and you are known for that whiny mantra.

Big big reach on your part. And incorrect too. It's about track stars getting the pass, specifically sprinters.

Yes, the more I do the math, the more it shows he ran a 3.5 ish 40 at some point in the race. Course if fb players were also timed at top speed, they'd be a few 1/10's below their top time from a standing start too. Either way, amazing and obviously the fastest 40 ran as well--by far.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what he did. He's a young man that just won the biggest race in the biggest event of his life. IMO you get a free pass for that. If he had been pointing his finger in the other people face and talking shite about them and talking down to them I could see being a little pissy. Jesus he just ran faster then any other human in the history of track and got the highest honor in his sport, I would be a little excited too.

Its just a reflection of the poor sportsmanship at every level of sport these days. Its ok not to respect the opponent or the game. We have condoned it at least in America as long as our team wins.
I would like to see a return to sportsmanship across the board in all sports but I doubt that will happen. Golf is probably the closest to having a true culture of sportsmanship, but even golf has a few bad apples nowadays.

That is why I'd bet my house he's trained in America.

He probably didn't train in the US, did you watch any of the interviews with the men or woman from Jamaica, they are very proud to be from there and take great pride in beating the US sprinters. I'm not saying he didn't with any type of certainty but they take track very serious down there.
It doesn't reflect badly on him at all by the way, he didn't rub it in anyones face or degrade any of the other runners, he just got excited to be the fastest man on the planet. I guess he should have just stopped running and turned around and went into the locker room. Act like you been there before right??? OH YEAH he hadn't been there before and as a matter of fact NO HUMAN had EVER been there before.

Then you would lose your house...Both him and Powell train primarily in Jamaica. He actually trains there because he feels Americans are condescending to Jamaicans(or something along those lines)

I have seen a few interviews with him and he seems cool as shite

He does, he seems pretty laid back. I read the thing about americans being condescending in an article from the UK. It may have been exaggerated, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't like the US very much.

I didn't read all of the post but
my answer would be because he is not American. If an American athlete had done it, the media would tear him a new one. Since he's not representing this country, they choose to not make a big deal about the showboating

I really don't think an AMerican woudl have gotten bad press for showboating, at least in track.
