re: Why does MLB insist on weekday during the day postseason games?

Because that's only 2 viewing windows. And TV executives don't want that. It used to be even worse from the late '90s until the late '00s when the first game started at noon. Games started at 12:00, 3:00, and 7:00. And that was when fewer teams made the playoffs.

They could at least alternate start times. Both of the Rangers games were at 2:00. One of them should have been at night.

I wish someone would mix up the times when teams play too. But those big East Coast markets and LA always get the night games. I'm sure if the Rangers were playing the Red Sox or Yankees the game wouldn't be played in the afternoon.

There’s no west coast hosting window this round.
And they didn’t want to have 4 games in one window. So afternoon and evenings it is.
NBA and NFL never play midweek day games unless it’s a holiday but MLB teams do.

Good Lord. I remember when ALL playoff games were in the afternoon.

I get the TV windows but even as an MLB fan and having both yesterday and today off work, I didn't watch a minute until the evenings. Not to mention the in person fan experience is crap for daytime playoff games.
I know they're trying to hit multiple viewing windows but it falls flat for any excitement and fan engagement. I think having multiple games at once would draw higher overall viewing numbers and generate more "buzz" going into the division series instead of a dud of a week.

IKR! I’m feeling like half these people have never watched playoff baseball.
Also, spreading the NBA playoff over months doesn’t make for better viewing or a better series.

People who aren’t fans of the rays or rangers are more than likely not watching these games
Unless they are betting on them.

I miss afternoon world series games and transistor radios hidden in school desk.
