Honestly I don't know. I wish we could just enjoy the victory.

A good friend of mine is a USL alum AND loves LSU. he pulls for USL but doesn't get their typical extreme hatred of LSU.

Most people from Lafayette like LSU

This animosity goes back to the expulsion of the French settlers from nova scotia and the feeling of isolation they felt coming to LA. It's been passed down thru generations, and they're hatred for BR has only grown as they feel they have never rec'd fair representation in the state. It came to a climax with the whole name change thing and their perception that an LSU heavy state govt rules that state and tries to keep little brother down . They really do feel their failures or lack of success in academics or athletics comes at the expense of LSU succeeding . Just study LA history a little
And it's not a minority of their fanbase, it's a great number, 10-20% vocalize it and prob half really do believe it. It's almost cultish. The half of the fanbase that are true bleed red Cajuns despise the other half that support LSU and don't support ULL with the same extremism. It's sad that their passion and support for ULL comes at the expense of their hatred for anything BR and LSU
FWIW, I lived in Laf for 15 yrs, my sister in law is a professor at ULL and wife went to USL, so I don't make this shite up, I've actually researched it

why can't they just support their team without badmouthing someone who they rarely play against
You mean like the way a lot of Tiger fans on this board feel about TCU and Boise State? FYI, LSU hasn't played TCU since 1968 and they've never played Boise State.

my brother played football for USL. He pulls for the Tigers. What so many ragin cajuns and other schools do not realize is louisiana has way too many 4 year schools already and should be shut down. Those schools are getting money LSU could be getting but they are in denial on that. It really is pathetic. It is nothing more than the whoa is me victim syndrome.

There are also a vocal minority of Tech fans who hate LSU. There's a Tech program on the Ruston ESPN station, and they never pass up a chance to take a shot at LSU.

That was prolly HH who wrote that. I'm from Laffy and have always been a LSU fan, but i still think its great that ULL won and had the season they did.

This is true for La Tech also.

I thought this picture from the advertiser was classic. They did an article of the four people who have degrees from both ULL and SDSU.
This one of them .. Nice tie
Sure that pissed off a lot of ULL fans

This is a dumbass picture. Whomever wrote that on whatever billboard/dry erase board is a dumbass. I personally cheer for all Louisiana teams. The hatred that is this picture is only shared by young dudes that don't get no pussy.
LSU fans that hate on Lafayette or any other Louisiana team most probably don't get any pussy either.

the LSU-ULL shite needs to just die already. on both sides.
yeah, I bet if we win January 9th, the first thing on our minds will be trashing ULL.

Why do ULL fans feel this way?
I'll be rooting for LSU Jan. 9, my daddy raised me on LSU athletics.
That being said, the smug portions of LSU's fanbase really annoy me. It's almost like there ALWAYS has to be something to complain about. Right now, for example, LSU is 13-0 and having its best season over, and all I hear about is how the fat white kid doesn't get to play quarterback even though he's equally terrible as the black kid and has no mental mettle. And yes, I ALWAYS root for UL Lafayette over LSU. I graduated from there, I will support that school.
Do I root for LSU to win? Absolutely, I just wish there fans would enjoy the ride more than they actually do. You've got an elite program, enjoy it. Stop nit picking and just enjoy every win.
Yeah rouge, yeah blanc...and also
tl;dr

This is accurate..... But the reason is different. Tech fans realize that we'll never be an LSU & we're NOT jealous of that. Tech is trying to position itself as a consistent Southern Miss type program & the fact that we lost to them by a combined 3 points in two years is proof that we're almost there......so now if we can compete with a TCU???........but I digress, the main reason (at least for alum like me) is that there are certainly some Tech Alumni that give money to LSU & not to their alma mater! This is disgusting & embarrassing....Even Terry Bradshaw has ranted about this before, especially concerning our new stadium endzone project.

well what pisses off the fans at ulm is these jerks calling themselves the university of louisiana and dropping from lafayette. they think they have exclusive rights at being called ul.that is incorrect and arrogant. and somewhat illegal.
