When random posters can casually rattle off dozens of examples of basketball and football players that were effective well into their 30s, those players -- and/or the ages in which they were still playing effectively -- are not even remotely close to anything that could be even loosely analogized to an outlier.

dozens of players out of thousands upon thousands of people are outliers to me

Andre Agassi is the oldest player by a sizable margin to ever win a major. He was 33.

The below current players are 33 or older. To be clear, there are many many more. But these guys arguably don't suck, so I listed them.

Jason Kidd
Steve Nash
Marcus Camby
Ray Allen
Kevin Garnett
Tim Duncan
Chauncey Billups
Manu Ginobili
Jason Terry
Dirk Nowitzki
Shane Battier
Rip Hamilton
Mike Bibby
Kobe Bryant

and what does that have to do with what i asked?

We were talking about players 33 years of age or older that are playing at the highest level and you have mentioned players like

quote:

Peyton Manning?,Tom Brady,Ray Lewis, Rod Woodson,
Jordan. Dirk Nowitzki. Kobe Bryant. Jason Kidd. Kevin Garnett. Paul Pierce. Steve Nash

these are outliers when you consider the thousands and thousands of people that have played their sports at the pro level and didnt do shite past the age of 33. hell most dont even sniff that age

so 14 people out of the 360-450 or so people in the nba.

3.1-3.8% of the current total players. this also doesnt take into account the players that played with these guys who arent in the league anymore.

You are too stupid to insult.

I listed 14 names. I clearly stated the list was not comprehensive. I couldn't have stated it any more clearly than I did.

350 of the 450 active NBA players aren't worth their weight in dog shite.

Make me a list of basketball players that are on par with the 14 I listed, and then let's see how the percentages come out.

I feel like I'm arguing with a 4 year old.

There are two thousand professional tennis players at any give time. The top 500 of those are good. The Open era began in 1968. Andre Agassi is the oldest player to win a major. He was 33. You following, smart guy? What does that percentage look like?

Other sports players excell well into their 30's. Tennis players are pretty much done by the time they are 30. I know speed and quickness play a big part in tennis, but so do they in football, basketball, etc.

Well they start at a real early age. Like 6 or 7. And IF/WHEN they are foubd to be a possible great one they have training up the arse. But Competetive Tennis is a young person sport. Very few can get to 30 and NOT be burned out and or tired of playing.

I think tennis being an individual sport is a big factor. In the major team sports, a player can lose a step or 2 as he ages and it can be covered up by other team members, or he can take on a lesser role. In tennis, if you lose some of your skills there's always someone younger ready to take your place.

nice. well at first you are listing names like Jordan. Dirk Nowitzki. Kobe Bryant. Jason Kidd. Kevin Garnett. Paul Pierce. Steve Nash.

then all of a sudden you want to start listing names like Mike Bibby. Mike Bibby isnt the outlier type player that we were originally talking about.

You just got owned, smart guy.

The only 4-year old here is you. And you're always in tennis threads arguing the same way.

Take your 4.5 tennis greatness and expertise bullshite back to the sandbox.
