Why do coaches throw the ball down 30+ points with a minute to go?

Assuming he's keeping the starters in.
Reasons why coaches do it:
-"not quitting" - play till the last whistle
-make the score look better
Reason you should just put the backups in and run the ball to end the game ASAP:
-you shouldn't risk players getting injured when there's no chance of winning. I can't count how many times WR gets popped or QB gets pounded for no reason.
-It's a long season. You need the players healthy later in the season. As a coach you need to plan for whole season, not just one game.

Why risk OLinemen getting rolled up on in a tackle when running the ball with no chance of winning?

they're not important to future games as the starters.

So why not just forfeit once you're down enough?

actually, best case is to take 3 knees and end the game.

I wouldn't want Miles to put fournette, dupree, dural, or harris in down 30 points with a minute to go.

No wonder why you're not in the hall of fame.

There's something to that IMO. You learn to play through no matter the score and at some point that will pay off in a game that's close enough that you can get back in it.

As said, there's just as much a chance that your OLine gets rolled up on. Or your RB gets hurt if you're running it in this case.

IMO having a health ground game is more important than maybe a WR getting lit up. No reason to submit your running back to more punishment with that logic (and I don't think it's necessarily good logic with a minute left in the game).

Nice deflection with the character smear. I know that your done with your argument since you resort to such tactics.

Apparently your starters need practice of they are getting the doors blown off like that.

Like i said above, best to take a knee and end it. I seen a South Florida WR took a nasty shot today. For what? To get some garbage yards? That couldn't been prevented.
If you can win the game, sure risk injury. If not, why risk it?

So if a boxer gets beat up to a bloody pulp repeatedly, you wouldn't throw in the towel in order for him to get more practice?

Smart man. At least you can think longterm.

You have a terrible idea.
You throw the ball to get reps in and to get back into the game regardless.
The game is always a risk. If this bothers you then don't play the game. Why shouldn't players still get the opportunity to enjoy their playing time? Why be boring and just run the clock out?

Its no deflection - you're just soft. If your starters can't hang with another team then putting in your backups has no merit. It's demoralizing to your starters to be benched as a group like that and there is literally nothing your backups will gain from getting their arse beat so that the starters don't. Tough love - stay in there and get better. I spent two years of high school on the bench and two years getting my arse beat on the field and would have NEVER asked to be taken out of a game no matter the score.
