Why are the Brooklyn Nets getting so much love?!?

Spinoff from the NBA predictions thread, where I see most people predict them to be a 2-4 seed this year.
Why? (not trolling)
Deron Williams -
They added Joe Johnson, who is a vanishing act come crunchtime.
They have a big guy (Lopez) averaging less than 6 rebounds per game.
They have a glue guy (G. Wallace) that can't stay on the court...always injured.
Their depth is meh. I do like Reggie Evans though.
Last year they were 22-44.
How is this any more than a 38-40 win team?
Anybody?

Thats what happens when you're in one of the biggest cities in the world and rebrand yourselves

They will own everyne in that division outside of Boston. New location, new excitement, one of the best point guards in the league has solid players around him now. Lopez is a consistent big.

If anything they are getting underrated.

That is the reason for their ESPN hype, and all of the press attention.
I'm trying to understand why most people on this board like them so much. I don't see it, and I'm trying to.

I kind of agree with the op, their starting lineup is nice but flawed IMO. I think the east will be one giant clusterfrick outside of the top 2 now with Granger out. Could see Brooklyn finishing anywhere from 3rd to 8th, but leaning towards the bottom.

you're forgetting about Kris Humphries too
they have very good depth in the backcourt too. Marshon Brooks and CJ Watson
Lopez is soft but Reggie Evans & Humprhries are bangers.

This.
I was pissed when the Clipps let Evans go

in 1 of 3 seasons. he was over 8 in the other 2 (2011-12 doesn't count b/c he played 5 games)
he also has a PER around 19-20. obvious scrub

without lopez or johnson, and with deron missing a bunch of games. those 3 guys wil make a big difference

and Joe Johnson will benefit the most. He hasnt played with a true PG in years. The last time he did, he shot 48% from 3 with Steve Nash.
He's been shouldering a lot of burden in ATL... I think he will be relieved to play off Deron Williams....he could have a very good year shooting the ball

Humphries and Evans will make up for Lopez's shortcomings on the boards

exactly. if kris humphries wants to get 13 rpg, taking 2-3 from lopez, why does it matter to lopez?

I'm not a big Joe Johnson fan...but you bring up some good points...

not so sure of that.
Nets depth chart
I'd heard they had gotten Blatche, but didn't realize they got Josh Childress. pretty interesting group they got, just wondering how it all gels. if it comes together, I could see them as the 3 or 4 seed.
