There really shouldn’t be anymore “I need 3-4 years” to let things play out. Those days are over.

This no longer exists. The rule was changed October 8th. The new rule is a 15-day window that begins 5 days after the new coach is hired.

What happens if multiple coaches are fired next year though? It's really hard to predict. Who had James Franklin being fired in October back in August?
LSU, Clemson, USC, FSU are all big jobs that could come open next year that are at bare minimum in the same realm of job prestige.

Because failure is rewarded in college head coaching so easily. There are few comps outside of the golden parachutes of some major industries.

Off in the distance Sexton continues to write contracts and play one school's money against others and taking a per cent either way.
Real estate agents cry at the thought of selling a house four times in ten years and only getting 3% each time when they think of what they could have made as head coaches. Luck over brains.

I agree times are diff. But will people be demanding after the first year the new coach is trash? If so, these coaches will be demanding even more money to move to a new team. I have a feeling older coaches are not going to try to move much bc of the immense pressure they will be receiving at the new school to produce immediately.

The whole reason is isn't a permanent thing is to manage the rage around LSU sports, otherwise every loss in every sport by LSU would have the board get spammed by "FIRE THE COACH!"

Hanging onto a coach for too long is a recipe for disaster
I've been saying all along, the cost of keeping a coach that a school knows it is going to fire exceeds the cost of a buyout-and-new-hire.
