look at your previous post, the response to that post, and then your counter. You do not stay on topic.
I know exactly what I am doing here... I want you to dispute my last post.... YOU CAN'T... I don't care what you say... Spitting on the green is fricking stupid.... Golf is about THE GAME.... But whatever.. I would hate to follow you on a course with cig butts and spit everywhere, Since YOU think its ok to do......

If golf is about the game, then why is spitting relevant?

There you go with your strawman arguments again. I don't smoke on the golf course or at all. And I'm not sure what cigarette butts have to do with spitting. Your boys Jack and Arnie smoked while they played btw. How disgusting right?
and Ben Hogan
and Walter Hagan
And Gene Sarazan

His réponse to this will be something about the number of majors won or the fact that Tiger cheated on his wife.

Look at all those lily white golfing saints from yesteryear.

And to infidelity:

The roll call of top-flight players who enjoyed female companionship starts with Walter Hagen in the 1920s, and touches on legends from Sam Snead to Arnold Palmer to Greg Norman, who dished out a $100-million divorce settlement prior to marrying tennis star Chris Evert. Nick Faldo left his second wife for Brenda Cepelek, then a 20-year-old college golfer, after his wife found a note saying "I love you" from her on some hotel stationery in Faldo's suitcase. When Faldo left Cepelek, she took out her frustrations on his Porsche with a 9-iron.

By the way, I didn't feel obligated to make Arnold perfect. To me, what he was was good enough. I mean, he obviously adored Winnie, but he adored all women. The story that Bob Rosburg told me I think is a good illustration. [Callahan writes in the book: PGA champion Bob Rosburg, Palmer’s occasional roommate in the hungry days on tour, spoke of fielding a phone call once from an especially agitated husband. Rossie said he tried to placate the man but, never wanting to come between Arnie and buckshot, signed off by saying, “My bed is the one by the window.”]

The horror! Arnold Palmer's amazing contributions to golf are obviously tainted now!! Except they aren't and he's still the king.

or John F Kennedy. Nevermind the Civil Rights Movement, he cheated on his wife, so his contributions to society are moot
And what does Jack think about Tiger's infidelity?
quote:
While most pro golfers have been studiously silent about Woods sex scandal, Woods got a shout-out of support from another legendary golfer, Jack Nicklaus, in December. "He's a great athlete," Nicklaus said. "He'll figure it out." The Golden Bear said Woods' reported cheating is "none of my business" and predicted the scandal would soon die down. "Our public is pretty forgiving at times," Nicklaus said. "Time usually heals all wounds. I think the hardest thing is obviously his family."

However this thread started as who was the the better golfer and as great as Tiger has been IMO jack was overall better in every sense
Prime Tiger would whip the shite out of Jack 8/10 times, using whatever equipment Jack wanted to use.

You are the same type of guy that will claim Brady is the greatest ever because of his super bowl wins but will deny Jack using the criteria.
Why can't we get to a point and say both were great because it is nearly impossible to compare athletes from such different eras and be fair.

If you are going to bring this up, you should also mention that the phrase Tiger-proofing became a thing as courses started to try to prevent Tiger from embarrassing them.
While they had good intentions, they didn't "Tiger-proof" a damn thing.
In fact, I will argue that "Tiger-proofing" a course (making it longer) actually made it easier for Tiger to win. Lengthening the course didn't hurt Tiger, because he was one of the longest hitters on Tour. What lengthening a course does is eliminate a lot of shorter hitters from contention.
If they really wanted to "Tiger-proof" a course, they should have narrowed the fairways a 300 yards, added bunkers and trees, and thickened the rough.
Let's face it, though. The Tour was not interested in making it harder for Tiger to win. He was a money-making machine for all involved.

Ask Tiger if he would rather his career or Jack’s career. I bet he’d say Jack’s.

Tiger views Bobby Jones as the most revered golfer of all-time fwiw. Tiger and Jack are very good friends. Tiger and Arnold were very good friends. They all say each other was/is the best

If we're taking everything into account, Bobby Jones would probably be the greatest golfer of all time. He won 13 majors (7 measured by today's tournaments) and is the only golfer to ever win all 4 in a single season. He did this from 1919-1930, and then retired from competitive golf right in the middle of his prime.
Oh yeah, and he was never actually a professional golfer.
