To me Luka is impossible to watch due to his constant whining and antics.
But wow, Mavs totally screwed him out of big money! They never made any effort to sit down and ask or see if both sides could compromise on a less than max deal. They just shipped him off without a thought or worry.
You can never fix or undo that. He will forever hate Mavs franchise. And it tells other draftees (of Mavs) that they too could be shipped off without any recourse. Imagine if they ever draft high and the player once drafted tells them he won’t play for them and to trade.
I don’t think they thought this through, how it will be perceived by current and future players.

Trades might not happen often for a guy in Luka’s position, but they’re a part of the business

What a shite day for that agent
Only a minimum future loss of $11.772M

These guys are getting smarter… how much do you really need an agent if you’ve written your ticket?

They’re not though, which is kind of the point.

A lot of players get traded every year… no one really cares because most aren’t moving the needle like Luka

There’s never been a trade like this in the history of the league.
Saying “there’s a lot of trades” is so unbelievably stupid in the context of discussing the Luka trade it’s not even worth acknowledging

People who still think Trae sucks in the big 2025 are low IQ

He’s not a winning player and you’re never going to win anything paying him the money he’s going to demanb

Also, he recently stated he wants to stay at OKC. This indicates to me an easy negotiation coming.
A. He walks in and says where do I sign my super max (which they would offer).
B. He walks in and says thanks for the super max offer but to stay competitive I’d like to offer a discount for your trust in me all these years.
He will get whatever he wants so needs no agent just a good lawyer who can read contracts. And it tells me he likely will take a lesser contract but loses less without an agent taking big cut. He really does like it here. Grew up with this coach and players and fans. Knows what KD gave up (local forever legacy) to buy a ring.
SGA can be a local fan hero forever if he beings a title home. He already mostly has but wants that ring and knows it seals his legacy here, and elsewhere too. And I think he truly enjoys his teammates and wants this team to win it all. And would be willing to give up some pay to do so.

Why? He’s taken the Hawks to an ECF and has never had an all-Star teammate.
Hawks were like 12-3 this season when Hunter, Johnson, and Trae were all healthy with multiple wins over Celtics, Cavs, etc.
In those games, he was able to shoot less and pass more because he actually had some decent teammates to pass to.
Now, he’s having to shoot more again because Johnson is out for the season and Hunter was traded but the Hawks were winning games while he was producing 20 PT/20 AST games regularly

If the Hawks believed in Trae, they would trade Hunter. Trae, of course, doesn’t suck, but you aren’t winning anything with a 6’1 ball stopping guard

They traded Hunter because his value was at an all time high and he isn’t crucial to the future of the team. Same thing they did with Kevin Huerter and now he sucks.

How in the hell is Trae a ball stopper?
Most assists in the NBA by far and 3rd most in total passes. Such a tired narrative by people who don’t watch the games. He’s the best playmaker in the NBA and it’s not particularly close
