so are you saying childress should have run the ball when they are 56 yards away from a field goal? calling a pass play in that situaiton is the same as the two miles' debacles against psu and ole miss? i thought childress managed the game fine. if his team could have held on to the ball they'd be in the super bowl right now. i know you miles supporters love your god coach, but this situation is not something you should be using to defend him.

I know you were going for something else, but I don't see how the pick was THAT bad. The Vikings were on the 40 yard line, so they were essentially out of field goal range. Yes, he forced the pass, but if he thrwos it incomplete, the Vikings don't score and they go to OT... which is what happened.

I actually think that was the time to force the ball. High risk, but if he doesn't force it, the Vikes don't score.

Then again, I'm not on the "Miles is a moron" bandwagon, so don't mind me.

the vikes needed about 10 yards to feel safe on that play...4-5 yards to even attempt the FG in my mind

a run was not really an option

Actually, where the Vikes screwed up was the illegal substitution penalty that pushed them out of FG range and forced them to throw.

Like Henderson said, Brett's gotten away with forcing throws like that his entire career. That time he didn't.

True, the only thing that might compare to the Ole Miss game was the 12 men-in-the-huddle penalty after a timeout. They were technically in field goal range before that. I forgot about that penalty.

Pretty boneheaded penalty at a very critical time of the game.

And Favre could have easily run for 4 yards if they absolutely needed it . . . except that he didn't even know how many yards they needed.
