It depends...

NFL teams playing on Sunday will fly in on Saturday.

NBA/MLB teams go on "Road Trips" so if the Bulls play in San Antonio on Sunday and Dallas on Wed. ...they will just leave S.A. and go to Dallas and practice a few days.

They usually after the game/series is over and head to the next city for MLB/NBA.

Football probably flies in Friday or early Saturday for a Sunday game.

I know baseball will usually leaves on venue and immediately hit the charter flight to their next venue on a road trip. Usually fly through the night so they can either make an early game the next day or sleep all day. They don't hang around the previous ballpark any longer than they have to.

football teams, unless it's a bowl/playoff game, generally arrive the day before

MLB is weird because of road trips and off days. If a team is on a road trip and doesn't have an off day the next day, they will leave later than night/evening after that day's game. Sometimes, the way the schedule works out, they'll arrive in a new city the night before or early morning on an off day, and can dick around and play golf

MLB flies out after the game, home or away. "Get-away" games are usually day games now so teams get in earlier for their next series. Players union trying to eliminate "red eyes" as much as they can. Teams flying to Toronto late night, then with a day game behind it, usually get hammered. Trying to get through customs and checking in late is a hassle. Its a rare occurence, but when it does, traveling team usually gets pounded
