Even in his prime, was AJ ever a top 3 WR in the league? I say top 10 but not tier one elite.

Having Andy Dalton as your QB and being stuck in Cincinnati for over 10 years, and still managing getting to the conversation of "was he ever top 3" is a fricking achievement in itself.

maybe when he missed that game against Arkansas

Seriously, the announcers mentioned him missing 987 times.

AJ is clearly and rightfully burrow's bail out guy. just puts it in his vicinity or "targets" him when he's in trouble. AJ didn't have a good game IMO but using targets is lazy.

Exactly this. Green got 13 targets but nearly all of them were "oh shite" plays where Burrow had to chunk it somewhere. He trusts Green the most to make a play on a touch catch and to be in the right spot where it isn't picked. Green got 13 very low quality targets, whereas the easy dump off passes went to the other guys the defense focused on less.

Careful, you’re gonna get a lot of shitposts coming your way

Fwiw I agree with you. Burrow had many balls last night that were behind or off rarget and he’s lucky he wasn’t picked a few times too.

A lot of that is due to rookie mistakes seeing the game happen wayyyy too fast and a lot of that is also having his game clock sped the frick up because of how bad Cincinnati’s OL is.

Green has lost a step but he’s more than capable of catching contested balls that are on target and many of them that went his way last night we’re not.

And yes using targets as a valid metric to judge a WR without looking at QB accuracy is a terrible way to evaluate WR play.

I actually think Burrow played a decent game given how tough the Browns D-line was, the lack of a run game, and with negative game script for Cinci. I just think all the LSU fan base bashing of his receivers is out of control. Burrow is a 2nd game rookie on a bad team. It is ok to point out that Burrow's throws were not perfect and that throwing 13 passes in someone's general direction does not mean that anywhere near 13 of them should have been caught.

He must be on your fantasy team this year if you are just noticing. It’s been bad for a while. 2017 was decent, but declined since 2015.

75/1038/8TDs is decent?

He also put up really good numbers before getting hurt in 2018. Got hurt in game nine but He was on pace to have a 85/1200/14 TD type season based on that sample size

Green also dropped a few passes and was weak AF going up for 50/50 balls.
