Anything can happen in football. They had a harder schedule than Oregon and didn't slip up like Oregon. Its ignorant to think they couldn't have beaten Oregon.

They wouldn't have been left out of the playoff...they just likely wouldn't have won the playoff game.
And don't think I'm saying based on their season and the criteria to get in they didn't deserve it. They did. But that still doesn't mean they're the 2nd best team. In my opinion that year the BCS did not provide a game between the nation's two best teams...or even a competitive game.
Ok I see what you're saying. Fair enough.

The Playoff imo should be 8 or 16 teams but even at 4 it'll make teams coming from weak conferences earn their shot.
This is my problem with playoffs though. As exciting as they are, they don't always result in the 2 best teams playing for the title either, particularly as the number of teams increase. Just a couple of upsets or injuries to key players could allow a 2 or 3 loss team (depending on the size of the playoff) to play for the title over a team that ran the table and won a league during the season.

I'm going to bed
but what I'm saying is that with playoff you'll likely see more games like tonight rather than blowouts we've seen.
Bump this is 5-6 years if we do not.

This is also true but at least it's usually a couple of hot teams.
Like the Giants super bowl runs. Best team in the playoffs?? Nope, but got hot and out on a helluva show.
Ok, now I'm really going to bed.

It didn't always work out like this, if you recall. It's time for a playoff system.
Yes, all the BCS games ended up being really exciting this year. However, other than the game tonight I was not anticipating any of them...

You can't say the best team wins anything with certainty unless your playing a some kind of 7 game series, you have to be the best team that day. The broncos were the best team this NFL season, they probably won't win the Super Bowl....what if the chargers win it who are a 6 seed. This is whats going to happen to CFB...no longer will the regular season matter, only the "hot" team headed into the playoff. Bowl games are special, the debate, the pageantry of the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Fiesta, Orange..the crystal ball. It was unique, its just becoming a mini NFL

You know what ill miss about the bcs? How it limited cfb to one meaningful post-season game.

Playoffs will be better. You're just scared of change.

It worked
It wasn't the best, but it's certainly better than what came before, and most likely better than what comes after.
Single Elimination tourneys are the worst when it comes to determining a champion.

Who the hell is going to attend these playoff games?? Serious question, no fan in the world can afford to attend 4 playoff games on neutral sites.
