Not an ND fan but if they just would not have blown it against aTm, they would be in the playoffs, and no one would have a problem with it.
Don't you worry. They'll be in it next year. According to their fans, their going "scorched earth" on the "Freeman revenge tour." They'll rightfully earn their spot beating up on the little sisters of the poor.

Sure, some teams can turn it around and have a successful 2026 season. But, as it stands, they're literally playing four bowl eligible teams
Take one moment, look at the schedule, and imagine if that was YOUR team's schedule for 2026. You'd be angry. You're not paying good money for a full season of throwaway games.
This is why no one respects you Notre Dame. The NOLA Catholic League is more challenging than that lineup.
But what about all the directional schools the SEC plays in November?!

Declare itself national champions every year…and would be satisfied doing it.

Prob sue the NCAA like everyone else and win
The CFP is outside of the NCAA.
The NCAA organizes and governs all other postseason competitions, including the revenues.
CFP controls and owns the playoffs.
The college Football Playoffs are under the direction and “ownership “ of an LLC Holding company. The various conference commissioners, plus ND’s athletic director, manage the playoffs for the holding company.
The CFP and NCAA are still intertwined, so Notre Dame might have an argument, but they are screwed the day the CFP is spun off into a completely separate entity outside of the NCAA and chooses which conferences and schools get to join.

LSU would not be doing it for that reason
LSU would just put up a billboard

I'm agreeing with you. It is stupid that they (as a major program) get to play a schedule like this. As teams get left out of the playoffs, I would assume more conference teams will have schedules of their 3-4 non conference games look very similar. I hate what college football has become.
