In high school, I ran a 9.8 in the 100 yard dash. Was state record at the time. That equates an ~10.7 hundred meters. Now seems awfully slow.

That's kinda cruel. Our coach made linemen do shot and disc. Practice was mostly conditioning, with a few minutes of instructions on throwing. We didn't exactly tear it up at the meets.

Triple jump. I was tall and skinny with very long legs!
Won my very first competition against eight other teams after learning the hop-step-jump technique the same week!
This was in 1970. The opportunity presented itself.
Jumped 38'7'' in the 10th grade. I was barely 15 at the time.

I use to run the 1600 meters in high school. I could run a sub 5 1600.

I ran the 3200 in 12:57 in 12th grade
I ran the 1600 in 5:02 in 12th grade
I ran the 400 in .50:09 in 12th grade
I was fast for a white kid.
