You also have to take into account where he was coaching. Different levels of depth/talent/expectations. The fact that he had UH in the top 10 is amazing.
Definitely. Man was legit at Houston.

9 game improvement and they also were able to be better on defense, yes the HC had something to do with that. Also Coog High has gone through multiple coordinators last 2 years on offense.

UH was starting a freshman and they didn't have much consistency. Broadway even played some before transferring.

I live here in houston and have watched plenty of their games. Sumlin is very overrated.
C-USA was absolutely pathetic this year and they lost the only game they played against a good opponent.

Ovder rated enough to get a job out of Coog High and take them to 2 CUSACG. Well I guess they want that era between Pardee and Summlin back. I mean if Bill Yoenman hadnt had the cash in drawer thing, Coog High would have been in the Big XII.

If Texas wasn't a bunch of cry baby fricks and Baylor wasn't connected as frick, they would have been in the Big 12

I think Miles deserves credit, but I think the guys I listed probably have done better job this year
I understand your sentiment, but you cannot knock a coach for having good players, especially when he is the coach that recruited those good players. Miles deserves coach of the year for what this team accomplished, a team that he is responsible for recruiting.

I'm saying LSU has guys coming off the bench who would be stars in C-USA. Same for Alabama
True. However, UH does not play in the SEC, does it?
Winning 10 games at Houston or excelling at Virginia with less talent than LSU is nice, but it is also against significantly weaker competition that LSU is playing.
If LSU played Houston's schedule, Miles would not be COY.
I think the only two coaches with legitimate resumes other than Miles were Snyder and Briles. Both teams had less talent than their conference counterparts, and both overachieved.
UH and UVA, not so much.

He might have had more talent than anyone else but his team never played down to the competition and he never had a usual Miles brain fart. His team was always ready to play and he deserves the award.
Gundy deserves some praise too along with Dantonio.

Lane Kiffin isn't coach of the year, though he should certainly be douchebag of the year.

Why would you disagree? The dude is the biggest douche in college football.

The thought of Kiffin receiving coach of the year votes while Tennessee is coached by Dooley is sickening.
