1. Red Sox - I used to live in Merrimack, NH and my dad and I would catch 5-20 Red Sox games a year. Some of my greatest memories were of those games.

2. Patriots - When I lived up there, we would call them the Pathetics. When I first moved down here, I didn't have a lot of friends, the culture was very foreign to me; however, that was when New England's dynasty began. It let me feel connected to something while I attempted to figure out how the south works.

NCAA: Alabama - Born in Montgomery in 1987 and have been going to Alabama football and basketball games since 1992. My dad has had season tickets since then. Didn't really have much of a choice, but never regretted it. Graduated from UA in 2010.

NHL: Detroit Red Wings - Became a fan around 2008-2009. I've always liked defense and was drawn in by Lidstrom. I had a bunch of friends that followed various NHL teams, but no one had chosen Detroit yet. Probably my #1 team.

MLS: Sporting Kansas City - Started watching following around 3 years ago. They had just rebranded and had some great attackers. They were just fun to watch, but weren't as widely followed as LA or Seattle. Didn't hurt that they had some players that were just starting to get caps with the USMNT.

EPL: Liverpool - Started following about a year before SKC. They were a good team back in the day that had fallen on hard times. They were a mid table team that was getting better. Suarez had just burst on the scene and was a lot of fun to watch.

Bundesliga: Borussia Monchengladbach - partly because of the name, also because they had some ties to Liverpool.

MLB: Chicago Cubs. As a kid, the Cubs were on TV everyday. The pinstripes, the Ivy, Harry Caray, it all got me.
I remember thinking that Wrigley Field had to be the most beautiful backdrop for a baseball game; a thought that was validated years later when I attended my first ballgame there.
I have been a Cubs fan basically my entire life and the day they finally win it all will be among the happiest days of my life.

NCAAF: LSU LSU LSU

NFL: Don't really have a favorite team, not a very big NFL guy

NBA: Boston Celtics Jumped on their bandwagon when they signed Ray Allen. Over the years they have had a couple LSU guys with them as well. I still follow them even though they are struggling again.

NFL: Saints. I'm from New Orleans.

NBA: Rockets. New Orleans didn't have a team when I was a kid. I used to play with the Rockets on NBA Live '95, so I became a fan. Then I moved to Houston with my family several years later, so of course I remained a fan.

MLB: Astros. Didn't really have a favorite team as a kid. If I had to choose a team then, it would be the Braves because their games would come on TBS and I liked Chipper Jones. But after moving to Houston and going to a bunch of games, I became an Astros fan.

This is an interesting thread for the simple fact that I will never understand how people just pick randoms teams to root for. I'm a saints and pelicans fan because I was born and raised in New Orleans and still live there. LSU fan because that's where I graduated. There is an emotional connection to my city and to my school which causes me to root for them.

However, I can see it if you have a friend or family member that plays for the team. But unless LeBon James is your brother or Derrick Jeter is banging your sister I just don't get how people with no emotional connection give a rats arse if those teams win or lose.

NCAA (M)- Duke. I've always been a fan of the blue devils and my favorite history teacher in high school kind of converted me.

MLB- The Mets. The Mets have always sucked enormous amounts of rodney juwan boss penis and I tend to root for the underdogs. I'm also originally from New York and I hate the damn Yankees with a passion.

NCAA FB- Ole Miss. Ever since I moved to Mississippi, I've found that going to Ole Miss games with friends has been a hell of a lot more fun than going to state games with friends. My first girlfriend was from Oxford and she beat me until I became a fan.

NFL- Giants. They are always a dissapointment in the regular season, but once they get the wild card, they rape everything and beat the Patriots in the super bowl (2007, 2012). New York team and I hate the Jets because of Mark Sanchez.

NBA- Knicks/Pels. The Knickerbockers have always done pretty well and they always end up playing the Heat if they make the playoffs and for obvious reasons lose. This year though sucks huge dick and I've transformed into a Pelicans fan, as I live close to Nawlins.

NLL (National Lacrosse League)- I go for the team called Mammoth. Everyone needs to start watching pro lax.

Rugby- I either go for the South African Springboks, or the Scottish team (the name escapes me). I go for the springboks because Nelson Mandela was and always will be a badass. The Scottish I go for because they aren't very good, but Scots are the shite.

Soccer- Real Madrid. Enough said.

Women's Sports- Don't give two shits (except for the new olympic sport cheerleading). Yep that's going to be a thing this upcoming summer olympics. Get ready.

NCAA: Kentucky - Was just kind of born into it. They didn't have my major so I went elsewhere but have always rooted for them.

NFL: Tampa Bay Bucs - Spent a lot of summers in Tampa and attended pre-season practices when Brooks, Lynch, and Co. were there. It beat rooting for the Colts or the Bungles.

MLB: Reds - Closest MLB team so plenty of trips to Riverfront back in the day and Dad was a huge Big Red Machine fan. It was reinforced when the Cardinals moved out of Louisville and the Reds Triple A moved in.

NBA: Don't really have one. Been watching the Pels a bit with Davis and Miller there. Really mostly follow former UK guys.

That's fantastic if your city or even state has all of those things.

Grew up in suburban Atlanta so Braves, Falcons, and Hawks, as well as attending GSU and GA Tech.

Also used to love the Thrashers.
