do you know the mechanics of each position and what they are supposed to be looking at as well as the guidelines on calling a foul or not?
Their heads would explode if they actually knew what we have to do each snap.

The fact that you’re a fat homebody that actually cares about HS football says a lot.

I remember a WM game in Lafayette where the refs threw so many flags against WM it actually made the Sports Illustrated "news" column (H.S.). WM still won, it was really interesting listening to it. I believe those refs were banned from officiating after that.

I think the officiating in high school sports suffers from a few things..
First, they aren’t professionals. They are human, they DO make mistakes
But sooo many times, I’ve seen fans of high school sports cry foul when they either don’t know, don’t understand, or don’t care about the actual rules in question
I’ve seen countless examples of ‘man those refs were terrible’ when in all actuality, they called a pretty good game, just some crazy scenarios went down that the average fan doesn’t understand, so they automatically assume there was some foul shite goin on
I guess what I’m getting at, is that a large majority of the time, people are stupid, and just don’t understand what’s going on.

i had two friends go to a game and just count players and players on line every play, they admittedly made it about 20 plays...

And that plays into what I said a few posts back; the most ignorant are always the loudest.

If a situation in real life ever presents itself where I need to count by 3s really quickly I'll be able to excel at it.

That's awesome. They probably won't complain about calls anymore.
Hell, I ran BJ the other night(7-man) and on the opening kickoff I counted 11 on K when we had 12. My FJ bailed me.out thankfully. It happens.
What position you run? I'm a deep.

We have to count 11 before every snap

yep, I'm familiar - I've been counting to 11 for 27 seasons now - and it's a lot easier to do it in 3s. One of the more valuable things I've been taught.

I've never thought about doing it that way.
It kinda makes sense.

Do y'all run 7 every week?
Which of the three deep spots do you prefer?

thers a difference between missing a call here and there and throwing over 25 flags on one team
That would depend on the flag. Did they false start a dozen times? Illegally substitute a bunch? Illegal formation? Those aren’t subjective to an opinion, the way holding or DPI could.

Depending on the # of games we definitely try to. If we have a lot of games(8-10) then we run 6.
The playoffs are 7-man crews here in Georgia.

Who the frick do you think is refing LA High School football games?
exactly. this board has a weird perception that we ahve some big time high rollers in this state paying parents to move kids to certain schools, giving away cars and now paying refs.
its fricking laughable.

In Louisiana? Ummm, no.
In GA, yes. Our on field guys make $120/game. I make $60 running the clock.
