Ah, I gotcha.

Well don't lose.

I like the definitive nature of the playoffs. Lose and you're out. No bitching involved. Can't blame your failures on anyone or anything else.

But the point is a large playoff often makes the winner based on matchups, not who's truly the best.

That's a shitload of NFL games. Ain't gonna happen.

Like I said, I like the definitive nature of it. And there shouldn't be any bitching from the teams involved. They had a chance to win but didn't. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Let's go back to the Patriots almost-perfect season. Were they the best team in the league? Probably. But they lost to the Giants fair and square. They can't really bitch about it.

The under-performing teams also had the chance to win during the regular season, but they didn't. Why should they be rewarded for that?

1000 times no with the conference champions. It's the absolute worst metric. A three or four loss ACC champion who pulls an upset in a CCG does not deserve to get in over a top 5 SEC team (non champion).

So what's the alternative? I'm bad at math but 60+ games in the NFL is ridiculous, so that rules out the EPL version. Regular season record champ will reward those with an easier schedule.

Like I said, I like the definitiveness of the NFL playoffs. No bitching allowed. Want to be champ? Win out.

I wouldnt mind the current format if the kept the bcs standings and chose the top 4 teams that way. Im wary of a committee.

Pretty much my same thoughts, although I support 8 more than 4 teams (the OPs idea was solid)

Four is better than 8. A 4 team playoff makes the season much more exciting.

6 conference winners.
2 at-large berths.

Done.

This will ruin the regular season. You'll have 4 loss teams getting into the playoff.

This. It would have been perfect if they didn't have a stupid selection committee.

Anyone who says conference winners needs their nuts chopped off so they can no longer reproduce.

8 Teams is the best set up. In a 4 team playoff teams 5 and 6 may have a legitimate beef. In 8 team system, teams 9 and 10 can jump in a lake.
Disagree. 4 is the best. The point is to get the right two teams in the national championship game.

#1 and #2 are locks. #3 sometimes has an argument to be in the championship game. Because they sometimes have an argument, they get a shot. #4 rarely if ever has an argument to be in the championship game. Has there ever been a year where the top 4 teams all deserved to be in the championship game?

So #4 should just be thankful they get a shot.

The #5 team has no argument for being in the championship game. So they have no room to complain if they don't get in.

Sugar(Championship Bowl) - rotates every year

Rose - Winner goes to Sugar (Championship Bowl)
Fiesta - Winner goes to Sugar (Championship Bowl)

Orange---____winners go to Rose
Cotton---
Capitol One---___ winners go to Fiesta
Peach---------

This still allows for the prestige of the bowls and uses 8 teams for a quaterfinal/semifinal/finals.
The bowls should still make their money if not more because of the importance of advancement into the next round.

I'm with you on the 8 teams.

I also like your idea about playing at the higher seed's stadium, but only for the quarterfinals. Keep the semifinals how it is now with them rotating through the major bowls.

- 5 automatic bids for P5 conference champions
- 3 at-large bids (1 automatic bid for the highest non P5 school if they meet a certain criteria like being ranked in the top 10)
