Nothing we've discussed justifies Tech's line of thinking regarding not playing ULM.
Oh I said earlier that they should play. I just don't think it should be an annual thing. If it goes as the simulators and history showed there will be one close game maybe two between a lot of blowouts. Once the blowouts occur ULM fans stop showing up. It would be a good series every five to six years or so.

it's stupid of Tech to avoid ULM.
I've heard from people who know a lot more than I do about the two schools that Tech has offered ULM a 2-1 and a paycheck, but ULM wants a 1-1 and homefield for the first game. Justified or not that's how Tech feels it should be. If ULM bites then Tech shows their value. If ULM doesn't then we'll see the 16+ year standoff continue. IMHO if ULM were to go on a ULLesque run, then Tech would come back to 1-1 just to show the gap like they did a few years back.
Personally I think La has too many FBS teams. MS has Ole Miss, MS St, and SMTTT all are respectable. AR has Arky and Arky St both our respectable. La has LSU, Tech, Tulane, ULL, and ULM and most years one, two, maybe three garner any respect.

Hey Tech--the world talks more about you avoiding ULM than they do talking about anything your football program has ever accomplished. Let that sink in.

Go ahead and list the accomplishments, then.

me: list Tech's accomplishments
techster: we're not ULM
You're so on-brand, your face should be an alternate Tech logo.

you know you've had 76 post since 2013 and they've been mostly spent on this topic

So many accomplishments.
If you don't have a list, then you're on ULM's level.

I will give my thoughts. I went to Northeast and La Tech. I attended the last games between the two 97 thru 2000. They were great games with great atmospheres for what the game was.
Lets face it, it has never been easy for both schools with the domination LSU holds in the state. We all know the defacto #1 in Shreveport or Monroe will always be lsu.
With that said La Tech has a much more vibrant athletic history then ULM. It's really not that close. Terry Bradshaw, the Lady Techsters and Leon Barmore, Karl Malone, Tim Rattay, the best receiver in the nation Troy Edwards, Willie Roaf, Paul Milsap, Luke McCown, Ryan Moats, Kim Mulkey, etc.
La Tech has always had a more local presence. They have always recruited the Shreveport, Monroe, North Louisiana, and south Arkansas guys. Like another poster said ULM has not gone as strongly after the local kids. I can think of a lot of good Monroe players who choose Tech over ULM. While I also remember ULM trying to pull guys from Texas, Florida, and Juco.
The goal of La Tech has always been to grow a national brand. It's tough because of Ruston's size and LSU's domination.
It seems to me ULM's goal is just to survive.
When the rivalry ended, remember La Tech was joining the WAC, which seemed like a big deal at the time. This was a move to go national. The WAC was awesome in the 90's and I thought the move was the right one to try to get that national brand.
When Tech made that move it didn't make sense to play ULM anymore. First off they sucked. Second North LA didn't support the rivalry. Third, the rivalry was far overshadowed by whatever game LSU had that weekend.
I was at the games and the atmosphere was great, the tailgating was fun, La Tech had good crowds but the ULM crowds were lacking.
My last thought is with Tech's goal of going national, it still doesn't make any sense to start playing ULM again. There is no gain to it. Tech is better served continuing to go after Thursday ESPN games and bowl games.
I personally don't think Tech will ever reach the goal of national program like Boise St. There just aren't enough fans and money in N. LA to make that a reality. I dont see Tech or ULM's place in college football changing anytime soon. But, La Tech is a much better athletics school then ULM will ever be.

Outside the state Tech actually has some respect as a formidable smaller school
Really? I have lived outside of Louisiana for over a decade and La Tech USED to be talked about around here, but that was girl's basketball and that was because of the games vs. Old Dominion in the 1980s. Tech is in the same conference as Old Dominion, which is 60 miles from my house and NOBODY talks about LA Tech. When I lived in Tennessee, the only La Tech talk was once again the girls basketball and the games vs Tennessee. La Tech football...nothing.

Take them Warhawk shades off baw. Tech has lapped ULM and it's not even open for dispute.
True, but that means nothing in the big picture.

It is hard to pay for a new press box when you are playing ULM...how's that corner-endzone KFC shack working?
Really? Why? I thought La Tech was bigtime with plenty of money?

Real programs actually schedule ULM so they can pay for shite.

Actually expand to make themselves viable. ULM has obviously been left in the dust and it hurts your feelings. It's ok to love a team that sucks. They need fans too.
Posted on 7/13/17 at 8:19 pm to OU812
Ahem, I don't see ULM expanding anything. ULM is a has been.

I went to both, graduated from La Tech and I have so much more fondness for La Tech. They expand the university, add new programs, and invest back into the students. La Tech has much more community feel to it. It just a better university all around imo.
Like I said, ulm just seems to hang on to existence. Have they done much of any campus improvement since the library?
I do weep for Olin hall, that place was crazy. But Ulm should be closed and folded into La Tech.

That's Tech. It's ULM with a bad boob job and way more eye shadow and the crazy idea that that's what makes a chick hot. If there was a show called Pimp My Worthless Bottom Feeder of a Football Program, and ULM went on that show, they'd be Tech by the end of it.
Deny it all you want, Tech, but you're the same thing as ULM—ULM just fingered their first twat a couple years later than you did.
