There a people who change the channel and don't watch the super Bowl.

Have you seen how many pages Tebow threads get on here?
Posted on 6/12/13 at 6:50 pm to Cosmo
ESPN = Entertainment. Tebow brings attention. Tebow gets coverage.

a thread going multiple pages with people arguing isnt the same as me watching a show and deciding to to turn it off or keep it on. with a message board, we are communicating with other people. im not sitting here yelling at the tv and getting a response

But you know what? One day Tebow will be gone. The Tebow fans they suck up to will not come back because all they cared about was Tebow. And the true sports fans who got pissed off and stopped watching ESPN won't come back either.
Do their focus groups tell them that?

Deadspin. You know--the site where all the threads that don't originate from ESPN originate.

They need to bring back live musical performances during Sportscenter.

A woman I work with came by my cubicle to inform me she liked the Patriots decision. She has no idea what a play action is. That's why Espn pushes Tebow.

I bet she knows Leviticus though.

Does ESPN do focus groups? Do they not understand the general public is sick of a 3rd string QB getting so much attention?

They are owned by the same people who decided that ABC should show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire six nights a week. They got killer ratings until everybody got sick of it. Then ABC had no programming to replace it with, they went in the toilet, CBS and Fox stole their audience, and they still haven't completely recovered.
So there is long-term hope that can be found in this strategy, hopefully.

ESPN is ruining any chance he has of a career

If it was, it would reflect in the ratings, and they wouldn't talk about it as much.

If anything, Tebow will get you MORE ratings now. 3 years ago, a Tebow story was very attractive to Tebow lovers. NOW, thanks to ESPN, a Tebow story will get you all of those core Tebow viewers PLUS everyone you've driven nuts with Tebow who now root for him to fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Tebow himself has been rather inconspicuous for about two years and STILL, he is blamed for the fact networks ride his jock for ratings.
